First time we've been here and will certainly be dining here again. Food and service excellent.

Excellent homemade steak and ale pie, with triple cooked chips. Sandwich from lunchtime menu was very generous. Beer was good.

What a find! Impeccable food and service. The menu is varied and interesting without being overwhelming. The decor cosy but understated and very slightly minimalist.

Went for a meal last night and it was lovely. Welcoming, efficient service, great food and reasonable prices. Seems like they’ve got everything right. Will definitely be back.

My family and I were visiting the area for a long weekend break and stumbled upon this fantastic pub. The Roast Dinner was absolutely amazing - we are big fans of roast dinners and have tried many across the UK, but this one was the best by far! We can't wait to return when we are in Yorkshire again. This restaurant, which specializes in game products, was too expensive for a fine dining establishment. The manager was snobbish and rude when we asked for drinks - our kids requested J2O, but she only offered Coke, lemonade, and Fanta. When we inquired about a particular beer, she corrected us and said they only had Mopela or something similar. Disappointed by the limited options for the children, we decided to cancel our drink order and leave.

The pub is lovely when all lit up from the outside. Lovely log burners in the bar and part of the restaurant. Staff all very friendly and extremely helpful. Food was lovely but selection very limited. The big downside for us was the section closest to the road in the restaurant, it was very cold with no heating. We asked to move into the main area which was lovely closer to the log burner. Unfortunately we couldnt move as there was a large dog right next to an empty table for 4!!! Downside to dogs in restaurant areas which impacted on us and our 9 year son. My wife had to wear her coat in the end.

This restaurant has faced challenges in the past with changes in ownership, but I hope the new owners find success. They truly deserve it, as they have the best chef, food, and service around. We started with a delicious dish of thinly sliced beetroot with whipped feta, apple shards, and walnuts. While the Sunday roast was the star of the menu, we also enjoyed options like vegetable wellington, fish and chips, and steak pie. The roast potatoes were perfectly crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, clearly made with care. For dessert, we had sticky toffee pudding and bread and butter pudding, both delightful.
