"We came here for lunch for the NYMR 50th Anniversary Event before taking the steam train for the day. Having struggled to get them to answer the phone the day prior to get a table booked I finally managed to get through after leaving a message. The pub is small with a very traditional feel and if you are stopping for a drink then it is fine. However, the food was very bad. This culinary delight was served in a very aesthetically pleasing polystyrene takeaway tray, consisting of chips and a warmed up frozen something. It was not what anyone would expect when booking a table at an establishment so close to a prestigious tourist attraction. And at £9.95 per meal I was stunned at the sheer audacity of being served something I can get from a takeaway for half the price. So yes, our 5 polystyrene trays with a handful of chips and un frozen food came to £50 on its own. We will not be returning again, and would not recommend the food."

Took a walk from Goathland to Grosmont and planned on having a few beers and wines before the train home but the pub was shut on a Wednesday lunch. Their loss.

Went to have lunch ,asked for the sandwich menu, landlord behind bar said he would get the menu,served other guests who came in after us ,was rude to them and us and asked again about sandwiches, was told its after 1pm too late to get any ,finished my drink and left .Won't be back .Do not go Very disappointed with it Price per person: £1–10 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1
