"The ambience and building are quaint and inviting. However, the service left a lot to be desired. The waiter spilt a pint of beer all over my wife, and whilst mistakes happen, my wife's coat still has to be dry cleaned. There was no offer of amends, nor even a free drink for my wife, which is bad form and poor customer service. The food took an age to arrive, and was inadequate in quality and volume for the price. I had the chicken and vegetable skewer, which consisted of 3 or 4 small chunks of chicken, a slice of pepper and a couple of cubes of pineapple. To finish it off, a handful of chips. Not a lot for £12. Ketchup came in small metal containers and I had to repeatedly ask for this. We had to get our own salt and vinegar. My friend had the pie, an individual serving that looked like it was purchased in a supermarket and plonked straight in the oven. In all, an experience I do not wish to repeat, and I will never go there again. I would not recommend this pub to anyone I know."

This pub is welcoming and the food and drinks are excellent. The staff are pleasant and helpful. The only downside was that it was uncomfortably cold inside when we visited for lunch.

Went there with my family at the end of a 6 day trip to England. Honestly the nicest service by far. The food was delicious and the service was fast. Cosy atmosphere and a little backyard dining area to boot.

I went to this restaurant for lunch with my grandchildren. They were very accommodating to picky eaters! They had a good selection of beers and a nice shady courtyard that was a great alternative to indoor seating.

The staff are very friendly and the pub mixes traditional with modern and the menu is varied. The cheeseburgers were huge and tasty but a touch dry. The fish and chips however, were disappointing the breading was soggy and greasy not at all a pleasant dining experience. Voir le carte

Popped in for lunch on one of the hottest days of the year. Sat in a lovely shady courtyard and enjoyed really tasty food. The menu was varied and my fish and chips (not very adventurous, I know, but I have dietary limitations at the moment) was very good excellent chips, lovely crispy batter and flaky fish, and the peas tasted fresh and not over cooked.

A firm favourite on the Canterbury circuit, it always seems to fit your need. Quiet times offer a calm dining experience with a decent and evolving menu. Never over crowded, with a social element lacking from many venues. You can slip into the adjoining wine bar in the buttermarket for a real feel of the historic city. (Take the window seat, the cathedral scaffolding might be annoying)

The restaurant has a charming ambience, but unfortunately, the food was subpar. I ordered a veggie burger that seemed to have been frozen and reheated, with a dry bun that lacked any juiciness or flavor. I also received potatoes on the side instead of fries, which were again bland and dry. The sticky toffee pudding was one of the worst I've had in England. Overall, I would not recommend this restaurant for anyone seeking a satisfying meal. Voir le carte

Wanted somewhere to go last minute for a meal out with my partner, not being from Canterbury we weren't sure where to go...Although it's a small pub from the outside and not on the main highstreet it is well worth finding. Spoke to the manager Cristina and she was amazing, really friendly and fitted us in with no problems at all. The pub was busy, the atmosphere was great and the staff really made us feel welcome. Christina came over personally to ensure we were happy with everything. We thoroughly enjoyed our meals and would definitely recommend to friends, we will be back.

Booked into this little pub in the centre of Canterbury for lunch after being very happy with a previous visit....yet again it didn't disappoint!! Cheese and bacon burger and an open chicken satay sandwich with a side of chips were ordered and both throughly enjoyed. Portions are very generous, to be honest, we didn't need the extra chips but they were still very very nice. Staff were very friendly and attentive even when the pub became busy over the lunchtime period, the Manager Christina suggested a lovely white wine which was delicious. This little gem is fast becoming my favourite place to visit when in Canterbury.

"After never visiting Canterbury before we where looking for somewhere to have a late lunch, we came across this place which looked ok, upon entering the back room we were offered to take a seat in the front area and someone will be with us. We asked what food there was and we where sarcastically shown the food on the blackboard, after choosing what we wanted the polite man went off and put the order in. We did feel that because the man had asked a couple of questions to another member of staff that he was spoke down too a bit. Anyway after placing the order and what we wanted the food came out it wasn’t correct but because it seemed like we were going to interrupt the people in the back room we just took what we had. It was nice food though. When we went to pay we hadn’t noticed that there wasn’t a price list so when we asked for the bill we were told that it was donation, what we thought was enough, it wasn’t posted anywhere and it took us by surprise as we where standing at the till, I was going to pay in cash but was told they don’t take cash so I had to give my donation in card by telling the person how much we where donating. After plucking a figure out of air as we wasn’t prepared we paid and left. Upon leaving we felt that the person we paid thought we hadn’t paid enough and wasn’t happy with the amount but after working out what we would have paid properly we worked out that we had paid more than what it might have been if there was a proper price on everything. Overall it has a great ethos and it’s great for giving people the experience that they need to be in a working environment but they need to show the price or tell customers first that it’s donations and card only."
