An excellent choice for a couple of nights away with friends. If you choose to stay there make sure that you allocate time to walk around the grounds, especially around the lake. A magical setting. Rooms: 4 Service: 4 Location: 5

Visited with a group of elderly for morning hot drinks. Staff were friendly, helpful and efficient. Interior decor oozes character with a variety of themed rooms. Pristine historic building. Lovely gardens, including an outdoor swimming pool. Peaceful, rural situation with walks around the grounds and woodland walks very nearby.

A real lovely, quirky country hotel with great staff who go the extra mile to help. The rooms were well furnished, with comfy beds, very clean. The breakfast was tasty with enough options. A special Thank-you to Katie at reception who went the extra mile to make our first trip memorable, we will be back for another stay. Rooms: 5 Service: 5 Location: 5

Thoroughly charming hotel. Check in was a breeze, the staff were friendly and helpful. The room was great, a bit quirky, so much nicer than the corporate hotels. It is a beautiful old building with some fantastic history behind it, I wish I had had the time to explore the grounds fully. Dinner in The Orangery was superb, a great menu, and both my starter and main were very well cooked. Would 100% recommend, and will definitely be returning Rooms: 4

Our small group visited on Saturday for an overnight stay and dinner as we were celebrating a birthday. We couldn't have been happier with our choice of hotel. This really is an English country hotel with the most amazing staff, rooms and ambience. The food is amazing and the grounds stunning. Without a doubt we will be returning shortly. This lovely place was faultless . The staff also seem proud of working where they do, and many thanks to the amazing lady who showed us some of the original parts of this beautiful old house. Can't wait to return.

Lovely warm welcome from all the staff especially Ollie. Would come back. Rooms: We were upgrade to an executive double overlooking the lake and it was lovely. Complimentary water and tea/coffee facilities. Nearby activities: The hotel does have an unheated outdoor pool if you can brave the cold. Walkability: Lovely walks nearby to the 1066 battlefield and nearby lakes so you don’t have to drive.. very friendly cows : Food drinks: Mmm.was a little confused by the dinner and the mix of ingredients and flavours from Some of the dishes. Had a complimentary glass of bubbles on arrival and the house Spanish red which nice.

Lovely room, good food, spoilt by the hotel paying more attention to the wedding party than the hotel guests. Ran out of drink at the wedding venue so the hotel bar was swamped. Waited half an hour for a pre dinner drink only to be told that both choices of gin we'd been given, had run out. At 7.15pm! Restaurant service was slow but the food was excellent. Room was superb with a great view across the lake. Bed was super comfortable. Hotel needs to keep the wedding parties in the wedding venue so that when one pays £221 for a room for one night for your wife's birthday, you at least get a drink and served in good time in the restaurant.
