"Cafe/Tea Room. Despite having visited a few times before, I was surprised to have a negative experience this time. The restaurant was quite busy, and instead of a server taking our order, we had to go up to the counter. My main complaint was with the person cleaning the tables. They piled everything onto another table that also needed clearing, which seemed like a strange choice. The cleaning process seemed rushed, and they ended up putting dirty plates and cups back onto a table they had just wiped down. They then walked away, leaving the table empty but not properly cleaned. It seems like they could use some help with basic hygiene practices. Our tea was lukewarm, and the cake was just okay. Overall, the standard of service and cleanliness seemed to have declined compared to our past visits."

Service good and friendly. Had homemade quiche with salad and chips, the quiche was delicious. The only downside was we had no room for any if the lovely cakes! Would return.

Excellent selection of garden supplies Lots of composts many peat free locally produced and reasonable prices. Good selection of seed potatoes and onion sets Good quality plants

We originally came in for drinks but ended up ordering coffee and apple pie. The coffee was decent, the cafe was nice, but the apple pie was outstanding. It was as delicious as my mom's homemade pie. What better praise could you ask for? Voir le carte

There are lots a great selection of pots, square and round and all sizes, including really big (and heavy). Also garden sundries like compost and seeds and of course a selection of plants. the cafe is down to earth and has great snacks and meals

The staff were friendly and helpful, cafe is pleasant and clean. Unfortunately the food on offer is extremely poor for vegetarians. We had gone for lunch but we just got a scone each. The scones and coffee were lovely. The cakes looked good, but it was uncomfortably hot in the cafe so we left.

What a delightful discovery! The coffee and tea were delicious, and the fruit scones were very tasty. The staff were friendly and pleasant. However, it would be helpful to have better signage in place (as we couldn't see any) to indicate which section of the café is dog-friendly. We were all settled in when we were informed that we needed to move because we were not in the correct section. Voir le carte

We have visited this cafe a couple of times, had the Sausage panini's on our first trip, they were very nice. On our latest visit just had time for cakes with hot drinks, again evrything was nice. The layout of the premises at the kitchen end seems a bit odd with the waitresses carrying food out and plates back into the kitchen through the queue waiting to order at the counter this may be unavoidable due to the shape of the building. Still think it's a canny spot and will return.

We popped into this garden centre as a break for a drink on route to out holiday. Although it 's slightly off 'the beaten track ' it 's definitely worth finding. The cafe was in the old school room (complete with a desk I remember from my Infants School) and was relatively full, which is always a good indicator. We had coffee and an excellent Cheese Scone. We then had a look around the rest of the Garden Centre which is located around a courtyard area where we found a birthday card- completely inplanned. Definitely recommended

"We had a disappointing experience during our stay. The bedroom was quite cold, and despite asking for the heating to be turned on, we had to sit in our coats. The bathroom was freezing each morning, and the dining room didn't offer much relief either. The heating was activated for just one hour, which meant the radiator was cold again when we returned to our room. Their cost-cutting measures significantly impacted our enjoyment. We raised our concerns multiple times, but there was no one available when we settled the bill. At £100 per night for bed and breakfast (totaling over £200 including dinner), it was frustrating to be so uncomfortable. Another guest mentioned they had complained about the heating during their previous visit, only to be told there was an ongoing issue. It seems they simply won’t turn on the heating. We won’t be returning, especially since it’s quite a drive to get into town. Regarding the room, we were assigned an attic room (Room 8). It had many steep stairs and low headroom in places. While the bathroom was nice, it was also freezing. The towel rail was pointless since it was stone cold, and my husband had to skip his morning shower due to the chill. We ended up moving to Room 7, which was smaller but slightly warmer despite having a cold bathroom. The bathroom door didn’t shut properly, and the lights were all or nothing. The next morning, we moved our belongings back to Room 8 since they finally decided to turn on the electric wall heater—which they could have done from the outset. It only took the chill off for a little while. On our last night, we experienced a brief boost of heat, but it only lasted an hour. When we returned after dinner, the room was already cool again. As for nearby activities, there’s a park across a busy road, but everything else requires driving to reach shops and restaurants. Safety-wise, the hotel faces a main road, and there are very few parking spaces available (around four); otherwise, you need to park on the main road. Walking to town is possible, but it takes about 15 to 20 minutes downhill. In terms of food and drinks, the breakfast was decent. When asked if we wanted toast, we received just one slice on the same plate as the cooked breakfast. After asking for more, we had to wait a while before we were given another slice. Dinner was acceptable but nothing to write home about; it felt overpriced compared to the excellent authentic Indian restaurant we found in town, which served great food at better prices and opened at 5 PM. Overall, I'd recommend bringing warm clothes for both the bedroom and dining area; we even saw another guest sitting in her coat the entire time."
