"Myself and three relatives recently visited The First and Last Bistro in Ermington on two occasions over a seven day period. The first visit was for Sunday lunch and the second for an evening meal. On both visits the food and drink were very tasty and beautifully presented in smart surroundings. This is a family business run by skilled and committed people who clearly know what they are doing. We will definitely visit again when we are next in the area."

"Despite living about 2 miles away, we 'd never actually been to the Ship Inn even though we 'd been recommended it several times. So when family came to visit us, we took the opportunity and went. It 's a lovely setting, in the village square, with a nice church opposite. We were spoilt for choice with the menu. My brother-in-law and mother-in-law both saying they could eat everything on the menu and were having a hard time picking. To cut a long story short, they both commented that the food was the best they had EVER eaten anywhere and that 's quite high praise from a 60yo and a 85yo who have eaten at their fair share of places in their lifetime. Suffice to say, we 'll be back. Update: We went back today, 13th August 2023, for sunday lunch and my wife commented that the menu was excellent and that the beef was absolutely perfect. The portion sizes are generous too. I can see us being very regular here!"

"Sensational as ever. Enjoyed dinner here last night with work colleagues and friends. We were all extremely well looked after and enjoyed every delicious mouthful. Between us we had scallops, tempura prawns, chalk stream trout and scotch egg (White Harts unique variation) I tried everything apart from the scotch egg and can’t decide which was the best it was all fab possibly if I had to choose it would be the juicy, fat, perfectly caramelised scallops though its a hard call as the chalk stream trout was delicately cured and prawns crispy, crunchy and tasty. Main courses, I opted for the sea bass which again was cooked to perfection. My fellow diners enjoyed the fillet, lamb and pork tenderloin, all declared fabulous. For pudding we couldn’t choose, we didn’t want a whole pudding each so asked the chef/patron if he could create a little sharing platter see picture again delicious. Hugely talented chef complemented by a really lovely partner (wife) and friendly team who just know how to do hospitality and knock it out of the park every time."

"Good stop off if visiting Dartmoor. Nicely decorated and room was spacious. Can bring dogs. Sleep quality ok, we were in a room by the gravel car park so with window open (as it was hot you can get disturbed by car noise plus privacy not great. Menu was ok but not a massive choice. If you have a dog with you, you need to eat in bar area (although breakfast you can take dog in to dining room ‍ Seating was a little uncomfortable here, as it’s window benches which aren’t ideal when eating a meal. Breakfast very good and served by really friendly guy. If bringing a dog there is a good walk 5 minutes away, but no grass area near pub or outside room for dog to be let out in the night if needed! Only thing to point out is CHECK YOUR BILL before leaving!! Annoyingly we trusted that we had been charged for what we had ordered we could see the bar lady tap in to the computer when we ordered drinks, but the bill showed a different drinks order. We had 1 wine and 2 beers but it was only after we had left and looked at bill and we had been charged for 3 beers and 2 wines!!"

"Really amazing pub with lovely people! The bar staff are super friendly and the service is excellent. Really small but authentic pub with loads of outside seating! The food is amazing but I don’t think they serve food everyday so keep this in mind! Live music on as well on the weekends! Really short walk as well if staying in Kingston, if not there’s loads of parking as well! Nearby activities: Play park just up the road Walkability: Not lots of steps and easy to get in and out of the pub. Food drinks: Great selection of drinks and food varies on the day"
