Came here for lunch for my son 4th birthday. The service was outstanding and food amazing. Special thank you to Cheryl, she went above and beyond. Hadn't been in for ages, but still just as nice as I remembered. Good selection of food. Try the combination starter it was different and tasty. Meals were well cooked and everything was hot. Anna was our server and was very friendly and helpful and assisted with finding out if the pie had mushrooms in which it didn't).And also recommended the dessert The Honey Pot) I was going to order something different but ordered this on her recommendation and it was very nice. Went for a Sunday Roast and used a loyalty stamp on the Vintage inns app. Have previously used The Cunning Man when having a Sunday Roast but found the atmosphere better and the portions good. Food and service were very good. Staff were very friendly and despite it being very busy when we arrived they coped admirably despite appearing short staffed. The one thing I really hate as a customer is when the service charge is added to the bill. On this occasion I was happy to pay the 10 percent but it should not be forced upon you making you feel awkward if you ask for it to be removed. Amazing food, poor service.. Arrived at 2.30 left at 6.30 Found the servers to be slow and not particularly caring, only got drink after being sat for 30mins food order taken about 10 mins after that.. starter food arrived after 40ish mins. Once finished mains likely another 30-40 mins after that.. when all food was finished had to call a waiter to clear the table and order desserts. During this time we did not have a check in and had to call service for new drinks after them being empty for a while.. almost felt like our table was being ignored. In all amazing food, just wasn't planning to stay 4hrs for a late lunch meal.

Service severely lacking! Popped in yesterday Saturday afternoon around 2.30ish) so not overly busy had no issues at being told bar only area, really not a problem. As ordering at the bar not an issue. Ordered food, drinks, starters arrived, mackerel pate was fine, lamb kofta, husband said was ok but cold... hadn't really finished when mains arrived, oh I said that's quick.. response was, oh forgot you had starters.... asked for vinger not a hard request) still waiting !!!!!! No check back, nothing. Not even when I went to get more drinks literally sitting in front of the bar. So just shy of £100. For 2.
