Sorry but over rated. My daughters bought me for mothers day. I had fish and chips. Ended up with really bad stomach all night. Fish was awful.

You're standard pub grub advertised as gourmet and priced as such. That said, service was excellent and the variety of dining areas makes the venue ideal for a variety of customers.

The food at this restaurant was terrible and the staff were rude. It used to be a nice place, but recently it has been awful. I ordered the salmon and it was disgusting, lacking flavor. Voir le carte

My food was of a very poor standard. The fish was burnt and rubbery. I did let the waitress know this, but there seemed to be little in the way of an apology from the chef. The waitress service was of a good standard.

Very poor service, had to ask staff to clean table before we sat down as it was sticky/dirty.Pieces of plastic in 2 starters 1 inch long . Polythene sticking out of another starter. Never going back and would not recommend it.Apology received and starters not paid for. Even so very poor service

Stayed for a weekend. This place is clean. Some of the food is great some a little lacking in temperature at the point of service, it is also along treck from the kitchen. It’s in need of a refurb. It is also lacking in spare PowerPoints for charging phones etc. some guests moaned about the noise not a problem fir us in the hot room staying cool was our issue but hey ho we weren’t cold which is the main thing. We chose this Hotel for a birthday and wedding anniversary function for forty people. We were very impressed with the events organiser, Megan, who was friendly and helpful especially as nearer the date changes were made and accommodated due to illness. The room was lovely and the food excellent plus the DJ kept things going well without excessive volume. There are always a few gripes, in this case the long wait for the people who ordered the fish so that the vegetables were cold, communication about the delay would have saved us looking round wondering where it had got to and fresh vegetables should have been brought with the fish. We have visited this restaurant several times in the past few months for family celebrations. Personally, I find it to be quite expensive for the quality of food you receive. The main dishes range from £15-£17 and desserts are around £7.50. The food is average and doesn't leave a lasting impression. It seems to aspire to be a step above typical pub fare, but the prices don't match the quality. The pizza selection ranges from £12-£14 with a wide variety to choose from. A group of long-lost school friends and I chose to reunite at The Lion after many years apart. Despite passing by the restaurant countless times, I had never ventured inside until now. The bar was bustling with activity, but my only complaint was that there seemed to be a shortage of staff working the bar on such a busy evening. However, that was the only downside.
