The Lion At Pennard

I had supper here with a friend, and we were both delighted. The service was friendly, the menu was short and interesting and the food was utterly satisfying. Thank you.

Just had Sunday lunch here and it was delicious! The beef just melted in you mouth and the crumble made you crumble. It is also very dog friendly. I would highly recommend.

Very nice pub/restaurant, great service good food very attentive, had a little issue wit dinner rectified immediately, the meal was tasty and original menu helped make the evening enjoyable.

Everything was just perfect. Atmosphere, service and food were all fantastic. Menu had something for everyone. Barry is the perfect host and all of his team were very welcoming. Thoroughly recommend and we will definitely be back during our next visit from Scotland

The only plus about eating here was being able to take our dog. Despite telling the waitress that I intensely dislike spiced food, my expensive rib eye steak had hot peppers pounded into it, and there was something very hot on the plate. Very disappointing that excellent quality ingredients might as well have been curried!! Not everyone likes spice, some of us like to be able to taste our food!

We have just returned from a few days in Somerset and looking for somewhere to eat nearby we chose the Lion and were not disappointed with our decision so much so that we returned later in the week for a birthday dinner. Food was delicious with some originality which made a change from the traditional pub food menu’s. On both occasions the special’s menu offered very attractive options included sea bream and lamb shank. Desert favourite was the chocolate deluxe. If you are in the West Pennard area the Lion is definitely worth a visit and the fact that it was dog friendly is even better if you have a furry friend!

Have driven past here on a number of occasions but never felt the urge to stop in. At a loose end for lunch and just stopped in, but so glad we did. The building has a number of different areas that will accommodate everyone’s preferences. The staff are super welcoming and accommodated two extremely hot dogs in almost unbearable temperatures. We ate from the lunch menu which had a number of delicious options. In the end we opted for mussels and chips x 3 which were absolutely amazing. The staff are super attentive and the food and environment are really good. Stop by if you are in the area and hopefully have an equally as enjoyable experience.

We will go back what a great place! Last minute overnight stay with our 2 large dogs at The Lion while our children were at a sports event in Glastonbury. All the staff were very warm, welcoming and smiley; food could not be faulted dinner was even better than hoped, especially the new starters of baba ghanoush and a broth; breakfast (see photo) was a delight. Constant impression that things had been thought through e.g. jam jars of greek yoghurt and coulis at breakfast to go with an excellent fruit salad. Room was beautifully presented. Decor nice and friendly staff. Menu was varied and tempted us to book a table. However, the food was very disappointing. I didn’t want to complain at the time S I was with guests but my food was expensive and not worth the money. I had the roast turkey lunch. The turkey was obviously not carved from a turkey but resembled school dinners with three thin, watery slides all identical in size. There was half a carrot, a teaspoon of red cabbage, three sprouts, three pale and tasteless roast potatoes, a ‘slice’ of tasteless stuffing and watery tasteless gravy.
