"Afternoon tea was not the best experience. We were kept waiting at the door for about 10 minutes for some unexplained reason for a start, although we had a booking. Tea consisted of 3 sandwiches, two of them tiny, a cupcake, 2 scones (why 2, I don 't know), a tiny pot of chocolate something, a square inch of fruit cake, tiny smoothie and a hot drink, for £29.95. Champagne was £10 extra. There was a question on the booking form about dietary requirements, so I noted that I was vegetarian, but I was told at the table that there 's no vegetarian option! Why ask then?? I therefore could only eat one of sandwiches, which were all on spongy mass produced bread . Everything came to the table at the same time, including the coffee and tea which was luke warm on arrival, so we had champagne, a smoothie and hot drink all together. Also, a substantial service charge is added to the bill, so for three people it was over £123!! Appalling price for minute, low quality food!"

The atmosphere was delightful, and the food was fantastic. It was a wonderful way to celebrate my daughter's birthday with a brunch. The staff were all lovely as well!

Tables well spaced to provide privacy but still be part of the restaurant atmosphere. Good menu and very good quality food. Staff were engaging and helpful. Would certainly go again.

Wonderful meal, atmosphere and service (couldn't be faulted). First time seated at the bar really enjoyed being in mix of things and watching the cocktails being made. A great eating experience! Voir le carte

This is 5th visit over the last year or so since my return to UK travel. Each time I'm in Cardiff I choose the Ivy as a dependable location for excellent food/wine, service and value for money. I would not consider anywhere else when I'm next in Cardiff when you find a good place, why gamble? Please keep up the good work. Hopefully, see you soon. Diolch, Mog.

We booked the Ivy for my daughter’s 21st birthday treat as we wanted to treat her to a magical experience. She was blown away with the surroundings and the ambience. The staff made her feel very special and even provided a desert with a candle in it for her birthday. Being a vegetarian, my daughter had plenty to choose from the menu and was not disappointed with her choice of Halloumi for main course. It felt very special for her, which is what we wanted her to experience. Thank you to all the staff who were very friendly and helpful and made my daughter’s evening very special.

"It was the most bizarre experience dining here. First when we arrived in the restaurant, our group set up was that there was someone on each end who was sitting facing an empty chair on the other side of the table. Upon enquiry we understood it was a covid measure, however never had any other restaurants requesting such seating arrangements in the past 20 months. We ordered two split pots, a non-spicy broth for one side of the pot and a spicy broth for the other side. The staff came to confirm that we wanted spicy/non-spicy in each pot. Yes, we said. To our shock when the pots came, one pot was spicy/spicy on both side, and the other was non-spicy/non-spicy on both sides. This was after the staff had came by to confirm that we wanted a spicy/non-spicy set-up, and in the usual situation a person wanting a spicy broth would not have asked for a split pot. We raised this to the staff and were clearly unhappy about it, though did not insist on having the broths changed around. What happened next made it the most awkward and uncomfortable dining experience ever. From where we were sitting, we could hear the owner reprimanding the staff for the error, throughout our meal. We understand mistakes occur and if the owner was unhappy about the mistake and genuinely wanted to apologise, taking the initiative to change the broth to the right setup, or a complimentary drink or dish would have gone a long way. But no, he chose to reprimand the staff within our hearing for the whole dinner (which didn't help the situation one bit and made the experience worse! . We felt sorry for the staff. Even with the hospitality shortage, that was a completely wrong way to help the staff improve, nor help retain them in the long run. I don't remember anything about the food, although photos did show a good range to choose from. At the end of the meal we each received a box of hello panda, which might have helped, if not for the fact they were expired. All in all, would not recommend."
