"We attended a memorial service for our friend yesterday and were very impressed with the changes that have been made at the restaurant since we hadn't visited in many years. The staff, especially the man serving us, were very friendly. The buffet was exceptional and we congratulate the restaurant on their outstanding food and drinks. "We wanted to take my mother out for her birthday, but with my wife being vegan, we often struggle to find suitable options on pub menus. Additionally, we needed wheelchair access for my mother. We called the restaurant the day before and were assured that there would be vegan options and that access wouldn't be an issue. Upon arrival, we discovered that the staff had provided helpful ramps, making it much easier for my mother to move around. I want to extend a special thank you to all the staff. For those who use wheelchairs, they will find no friendlier place than this! The pub itself is beautiful, clean, and very child-friendly. There’s a lovely play area in the back that seemed to be quite popular. We were welcomed into the green room where a table was set up for us. The staff was incredibly attentive and friendly. We later learned that Julian, who took great care of us, was the manager. He was fantastic, even under pressure. Now, let’s talk about the food. This is classic British pub fare – not gourmet, but better for it and definitely a great value. My wife had the Monmouthshire baked dish and said it was absolutely delicious. I had stuffed red peppers that were spicy and packed with tasty ingredients like cashews and breadcrumbs, all served with thick chips that I usually don't enjoy, but these were perfect. My mother had a lamb dinner with Yorkshire pudding. We all agreed the portions were generous and each meal was thoroughly enjoyable. Just a little secret: we couldn’t resist dessert and ended up ordering the sticky toffee sponge pudding with custard, which we three thoroughly enjoyed. So thank you all – my mother had a lovely day, and we will definitely be returning soon. I highly recommend calling ahead. The level of service and friendliness was unmatched. They went above and beyond, with the chef accommodating my wife’s vegan needs, so a big thank you to the chef as well. I would recommend this place to anyone. Give them a call and go check it out!""

I try to visit the foxhunter if I can, although it is a 6 hours drive with public transport for me. each visit was exceptional service is professional, but friendly, eating is amazing, without over the tip the restaurant is quiet relaxing, the accommodation (support or stall) is gorgeous. matt, lisa and team foxhunter create the perfect culinary experience."

"It was a wonderful happenstance. We were staying less than half a mile away from the pub, I called in to take a look on the way back to Ty-Cooke (lovely little certified location for caravans) and had a gander at the menu. I started chatting with the clientele who were very friendly and spoke highly of the pie and pint night on Wednesdays. On the strength of this, I booked a table for two, and I'm so glad I did. They had a good selection of beers and wines, so the better half and I were happy. I chose from the specials board and J from the menu. My beef bourguignon was superb, as was the bacon wrapped chicken stuffed with spinach and cream cheese, even the veg was outstanding, especially the red cabbage. Sadly, I was unable to finish it all as the portions were too generous for me, and I wanted to leave space for desert. The creme brulee with a cookie was truly excellent, as was the blackberry cheesecake, just how we both liked it. Not sweet but perfectly balanced with the fruit. We will be back to this location for a stay, and the food here is a major part of that decision. We had no right to expect such exemplary food without doing our research first, and it blew us away, and it wasn't expensive either. If you are in driving distance, you must give it a try, I can guarantee you will waddle away happy."
