"We popped in for lunch on route to Chester from Worcester, the motorway was very busy so the sat nav sent me this way, glad it did as we came across this place for a lunch stop on the way, the wife said let’s stop here, looks good and the car park had a few cars in which I usually a sign of a good place to stop when others who may know the place also stop there, wow what a great find a me a menu that includes smaller tapas dishes, my favourite so top marks to the wife getting me to stop here.Really well decorated with a homely warm feel, I bet this is cosy in the winter with a couple of lovely old Labradors which I assume are the owners, really friendly and not sat by you as you eat as our dog does, the service was excellent and the food and drinks arrived promptly, I had the tapas chicken wings as did my wife the king prawns in garlic and chilli dip with bread to dip, (my favourite by a mile) I did ask for the Chorizo dish but unfortunately they had sold out, shame but the prawns made up for there loss!! This pub should be my local, it’s everything I want in my local pub, have a look at the pictures on there web site to give you an idea of what it’s like, honestly if I lived local and I can see why there were so many cars in the car park when we arrived, I’d be in there most days.Loved it"

fantastic country pub. the staff was very attentive, poured a big beer and eating was to die. Too bad we live in New Zealand, as this would definitely be a fav to think new.

we had a fantastic Mother's meal, which was nice to eat also for a gluten-free menu and at a very reasonable price, the service was on site, we will call again in spite of that, thank you.

My partner and I ate here whilst moored up nearby on our recent canal boat holiday. The restaurant was quite but we were told we had to order food by because they had a large party due. Not an issue really but it would have been good to know we had a time limit when we booked. The food was great, with a good varied selection to choose from.

I went to eat and drink twice over a week because of my best partner wedding. first, the dhirsch dinner then makes the night before the big day. that was excellent and I would recommend the Scotch egg starter. super lot of beer. the staff is friendly and helpful. if they are in the opposite, they try. there is a lot of work to improve the pub and back to the bricks makes it pleasant to the eye. Certainly from when I last visited 20 years! I will come back in definitiw.

"Beautifull hotel, I guess one can call it trendy , but I just don 't understand how they can justify the price £130/night and that most of the time will go to £160 as they run out of entry level ones. So I guess the answer is there because people pay for it! But let 's just make some relevant comparisons Birmingham Grand literally in the heart of the city, brand new, 5* hotel, with all recently decorated rooms to the highest standard is £135 15 for breakfast. Needless to say rooms are air conditioned, fully equipped and genuinelly very posh. Hotel has lifts, has porters and the service is top notch. The Lion is barelly 4* just for trendiness alone, but the actual quality of furnishing is closer to 3*, has no lift and you will be lugging your bags up and down mutiple flights of stairs (and I mean multiple like 8 going up and down) trought narrow corridors to mediocre room (nothing wrong with it just mediocre) which isn 't even air conditioned. Sorry, I just don 't get it. That said restaurant is good fully fine dining if you are into it. Althought in my oppinion it doesn 't fit into the rest of the hotel. So it is ~3.5* hotel which is very youghtfull and trendy and then you get 5* fine dining with very tiny portions for the dinner (which is not criticism of restaurant, it is very good on it 's own). In conclussion I just don 't get what niche this hotel is filling, who stays there and why. The price for the rooms should be £75 95 tops. Shreesbury is not exactly prime tourists destination either (at least shouldn 't). But it seems it is working out for them, I just would not recommend it, I would not stay in it again and it is definatelly not worth the price. Neither in isolation, nor in comparison."
