"We came to this restaurant on a whim while on our way somewhere else and we are so glad we did. The atmosphere was great, the landlord was really friendly, and the Lamb Roast Dinner was amazing! The roast and mashed potatoes, peas, carrots, cauliflower cheese, Yorkshire pudding... and the meat was delicious! You can choose between lamb, chicken, or beef. The portions were generous and the prices were very reasonable. We had two dinners, one soft drink, one coffee, and one hot pudding for just under £20. A bonus for us was that they were showing live rugby on Sky. We would recommend this place for all ages, they even cater for children."

About time someone added The Hope and Anchor to trip advisor. I try and eat here at least one Sunday a month, great home cooked food at very reasonable prices.

The Hope Anchor had a brilliant choice of food on their Friday Menu . All cheap and very affordable, especially for how much food you get!!! Food was lovely and service was brilliant.

Absolutely brilliant Sunday roast. We were recommended by a local to give this place a try and we're so glad we did... only reason for not giving 5 stars... No vegetarian option for PT :

A welcome addition to Denbighs very limited eating choices on a Friday. A good selection of standard pub grub. We had scampi and chips and salmon burger and chips, both came with a very good salad and home made chips. Most meals are less than £6. Voir le carte

2 of us walking Offa's Dyke booked 4 nights b &b at this lovely old pub. En suite accommodation clean with comfortable beds. Owners Gary and Debbie couldn't do enough for us. Evening meals were superb, cooked to order by Debbie, nothing too much trouble, but still at pub grub prices. Great quality and value all round.

I had an amazing Sunday roast at The Hope Anchor today. I would definitely recommend it - the food was delicious and homemade, the prices were reasonable, the staff was great, the atmosphere was friendly, and the restaurant was clean. I was also very impressed with the COVID-19 safety measures in place. Overall, a fantastic experience! Voir le carte

This is a beautiful little Welsh pub, family run with home made food (yum) the Sunday dinners are always good value and very tasty, the toilets are always nice and clean and smell nice too which is always a bonus! The b is very well maintained the owner works very hard keeping it all looking lovely, the beds are clean, well pressed and look nice, everything matches so when you walk in it looks beautiful.

The boss and I called for lunch a couple of weeks ago. I had let Gary and Debbie know we were coming because Debbie does a special veggie lunch with notice. I had the beef as always and as usual it was superb. Sian really enjoyed hers too. For less than six pounds per head, this is fantastic value. The quality of meat is top notch and veg is lovely. It makes you not want to bother making a roast dinner yourself.

"Went for afternoon tea with my wife, using an 'experience ' voucher from a well known site, costing £35.99 absolute disaster! The description said 'sit down in the sophisticated dining room and tuck into a section of finger sandwiches, tantalising cakes, pastries, macarons and scones with clotted cream and jam. You won 't want this afternoon to end! ' Trust me, we could not get out of their quick enough and go and find somewhere to get something to eat. The sophisticated dining room was a large, cold room with only a couple of other diners, sticky wooden tables, with no table cloths, just a flimsy paper napkin and a knife and fork. We ordered a coffee and a tea, which came in the smallest teapot, I have ever seen. Later in the meal, when we asked for another drink, we were told that was extra and were charged another £5.70. The food was nothing like as described or pictured on the website. A sad looking selection of sandwiches four quarters each of thin sliced bread one containing a very small piece of processed ham, a second mashed up egg, third was some sort of fish, not sure if it was salmon or tuna; and finally some sort of green leaf with something wet on top it looked like the sandwich had been made days earlier and then sat upon! No pastries or macarons but the two scones with clotted cream and two little pots of jam were OK, however the remaining small cakes were dreadful, none of them were fresh there were two eclairs that were inedible, either the cream or chocolate was off and they were very dry; two little red velvet cakes, which again were dry and horrible; and finally two small pieces of carrot cake that were the least objectionable but again very dry. When we told the waitress the eclairs, she said she would tell the chef but no offer of an alternative. True, it was an unforgettable experience, but not in the way we had expected! We have had afternoon teas in top hotels, pubs, cafes and well known garden centres and nothing came close to being as bad as this meal. Needless to say we will never return and would strongly advise caution if anyone is thinking of going here."
