"The Hope Pole used to be a destination restaurant especially for Sunday lunches so we were looking forward to today’s meal. On the plus side the staff were very friendly and welcoming but both roasts were practically inedible. The so called pork roast was just a slab of inedible fat and the beef (requested rare) had obviously been sliced some time ago and microwaved. Only the roast potatoes were worth eating.. One of thw worst meals we remember ever eating so we will obviously not be going back."

We had our second Sunday lunch at this restaurant since the new management took over a few months ago and it was delightful. We will definitely be returning.

Under new ownership and with a new chef, it truly is a major change for the better. The menu has some really good items that certainly have a wow factor and they cater for all tastes. Staff were very polite and friendly and made you feel welcome.

We decided to go for the quiz night at this restaurant. The ambiance was fantastic, the staff were great, the snacks were delicious, and the beer selection was excellent. Plus, they allow dogs in, making it a very pet-friendly pub. Overall, a very nice place to visit.

Myself and daughter pop in for Sunday dinner. The staff were happy and chatty. They do mocktails so my daughter had one and was lovely. The food came out in a reasonable time, and was delicious, I have the shoulder pork and my daughter the mushroom Wellington, so tasty! I would really recommend trying this place. Voir le carte

it is a quirky art of space, all striped kiefer floors and a sortiment of furniture. it mimics in flure, and separate cozy opposite is to a small garden at the back. his badeales pub, good st austell really. the beer is good and well kept. eating is not adventurous, but well presented...a good pub for families, and directly opposite victoria parks, playground.

Every Thursday in the back room, there's an open mic, and every time I've been it's been fab. Great atmosphere, talented musicians (Particularly Drew, who hosts it), really good night like an evening round your mates' with a drink, and they're all great singers and guitarists! You don't have to play or sing, you can just be audience, and even if you're just trying out, everyone is really supportive.

My friends, our kids, and our dog all went in to this restaurant together. We received lovely service as soon as we walked in. To our surprise, our dog ran out of the front door and into the road. One of the staff members, Jackson I believe his name was, quickly ran out and rescued him. We are incredibly thankful as our kids were also running after him. Thank you so much to the staff, we truly appreciate it. Voir le carte

This pub used to be a great place to visit good food and lots of fun… what happened?! New management perhaps? Drinks very average (some might say a bit overpriced) and was not impressed by the persistent lack of food tried to pop in a number of times to eat but always “no food”. Staff were ok but seemed clueless and bored looked liked they haven’t served a customer in years! Would not recommend whatsoever. Plenty of better options in Bath.

This pub is a hidden treasure. Unpretentious and simple but the food and drink is absolutely outstanding. Everyone should try their Sunday roast it's made to a really high standard with very generous portions and a good selection of vegetables. Desserts were excellent too and even the coffees were impressive with some nice latte foam art! Parking is in short supply nearby but if you park in Charlotte St car park you can walk down through Victoria Park and make an afternoon of it.
