"This review is for the restaurant/food only as we didn’t stay at the hotel. The staff were extremely lovely and accommodating. The atmosphere of the restaurant was wonderful. A cozy and inviting space, that is tastefully decorated. The food was unfortunately hit and miss. I had a Gwydyr 8oz burger which was nice but could have offered more for the price. It was a very simple patty in a bun with very little sauce or garnish. The meat tasted good but was slightly too salty so I had to compensate by adding various sauces to it. I am from London, and £19.50 for a burger is expensive even by London standards. So I had higher hopes for my burger than just a bread with a patty and some lettuce and an over salted thick piece of bacon. My partner ordered a 16oz version of my steak (photo) and that was also overcooked on the outside and pink on the inside. With very few garnishes, and a thick layer of very salty bacon. The coleslaw on the side was a teaspoon size in a tiny ramekin! The chips however were quite nice. A friend of mine had the Hake wrapped in Parma ham and unfortunately this one was inedible. The fish tasted old and overly fishy like it was either off or borderline off with a metallic aftertaste. I didn’t dare have more than a bite and I had to discreetly spit out even that into a tissue. My friend is way too polite, so she tried to eat it all with the help of lemon juice, tartar sauce and an extra order of gravy. We thought it would be a whole piece of fish in Parma ham, but it was a sort of mashed up flakey version of hake, stuffed together in the Parma ham, with it acting like a pillow case to hold the contents together. I love seafood , I eat fish and shellfish all the time, and there are few things in the world I don’t eat, but that Hake was truly awful. I hate to say this because the staff were very friendly and some of the people were happy with their food. The people who ordered battered cod and chips said their food was ok. We ordered 4 portions of blue cheese sauce that they forgot to put through with the order, so the sauce arrived late, when everyone had almost finished eating. Of course accidents like this happen so not really bothered about that, we asked for a takeaway container to not waste the sauces and took it home with us. The overall 3 star is because of the friendly staff and the atmosphere of the place. Had I had to rate solely on food quality, and taking the prices into account it would have been a 1* review."

I thought I’d make good use of my time whilst waiting for our starter to arrive to write this review.Currently been here for 50 minutes, and we only ordered from the starter appetiser menu….still no sign of our food, or an explanation for the delay.Really unimpressed with the service. We had a booking here for dinner at 745. On arrival, we were told all the bookings had been cancelled as they had let too many walk ins sit and didn’t have our table anymore. As far as I knew this is not how restaurants run and with no one else in the village taking walk ins, we are unable now to have any dinner. Absolutely terrible way to run a restaurant and if they can’t manage to run a booking system, I doubt they are able to do much else.

Came here for drinks only. Had to order our drinks through their app. After placing our order 20 mins had passed so we went to the bar to ask where the drinks were. I could see our drinks on one of the trays at the bar and was told our drinks will get made now. Another 5 mins passed and I went back to the bar just to cancel the order but the suddenly found our order and because they had been out on the bar for so long theyd gone flat. Definitely won't be visiting again

Most places were fully booked but this had space, so despite the terrible reviews, we gave it a go. Everything appears ok when you arrive in terms of decoration and ambience, but that all changes when you meet the first member of staff who points you to a table with no grace, gratitude and any sense welcome. Ordering is by QR code on the table (which opens an online wording system on your phone) which means service is actually none existent. That said when staff do appear to present food and drink, they have all been trained by the same person... a person who you would not want to meet on a deserted street. The food is basic at the most basic level, more 1970's pub than 2020's restaurant, wh... Voir le carte

As requested waited at hotel entrance to be seated at table outside after awhile guy said someone will be with you shortly five minutes later after rattling bottles behind the bar he came back and told us ok to sit at table that needed cleaning okay!! We asked if someone could come and clean it he answered yes whilst waiting we tried to download menu on app not very successful so after about ten minutes we asked another guy who was busy giving out drinks if someone could clean the table and take our order he said yes. After a further ten minutes the young couple on the next table asked for something to clean their table with having the same problem and tables were cleaned. Another ten minute...

Our family of 7 adults and 5 kids age 1.5 to 12 years had booked 4 rooms at this hotel and had an extremely bad experience 1 the rooms were small with no flexibility of upgrade and heaters did not work at night , also the beds were really small and could not accommodate 2 adults and 1 child of 4 years old. 2 the staircase is extremely narrow , no elevator and we had to bring our own luggage 2 floors up. 3 the staff is not helpful, do not provide any solutions 4 we did not have any towels in the room when we arrived 5 the walls of this hotel are not sound proof so there is not much privacy 6 we had arrived around 9 pm after a long travel to this hotel... since there are not much options to di...

"Whenever I get the inclination to write a review it’s usually because it’s so good and I want to shout about my experience to everyone… however this is not my usual 5* recommendation! As locals we have visited this cafe on a few occasions for breakfast or a coffee stop. It’s a great location, nice decor, dog friendly and delicious food. What’s not to like? Well, the staff, or more specifically the owner! She lacks any customer service skills, she smiles through gritted teeth, orders her staff around while she stands observing (or waiting for an argument . Each time we’ve visited she’s had an issue with something. Once she argued with me because I asked for my latte to be served in a cup rather than a tall glass. She proceeded to try and educate me on coffee making (I’m barista trained ! She reluctantly gave me it to me in a mug with a jug of extra milk which wouldn’t fit into the mug anyway! More recently we arrived, it was quiet, and chose to sit in the window (the largest table as we had our dog and didn’t want him to be in the way. She rushed over and demanded we sat at another table because she “couldn’t afford for us to take up a larger table”. We moved without an issue but she was very confrontational (as always and made the rest of our dining experience uncomfortable. So uncomfortable in fact that despite being ravenous we almost didn’t order. The cafe remained quiet throughout our time there, plenty of empty tables and yet she proceeded to use the larger window table to accommodate her staff, herself and a friend who popped in. How is that fair? So my advice to you as a fellow catering/ hospitality manager is… Learn from your Trip Advisor feedback, Book yourself on a free customer service course and lead by example and if you are worried about costs reduce the number of staff. 5 staff on duty in a cafe that seats approx 25 people at full capacity is not needed. Maybe the owner should put her feet up at home and let the lovely younger people do their thing. They all look so nervous around her and are almost too afraid to speak. I’m sure they’d do a far better job without her monitoring their every move. Even the Chef (her husband maybe? looks petrified of her!! Certain people are not cut out for customer facing roles and she is one of them! I’m pretty sure she doesn’t read any of these reviews as she’s been like this since my first visit 5 years ago!! What a shame. This place could be a thriving business and a welcoming village cafe but I’m sure her confrontational attitude and unwelcoming nature put people off from returning. Such a shame as the food and coffee are delightful"
