Excellent food and service dining room very spacious and light attentive service expensive but very good value great dining experience look forward to returning

my partner, I had a great jubilee dinner in the goring dinner room. eating is always great. many thanks to lorenzo (the sommelier) for its excellent wein suggestion. one of the best we had this year.

we have always found the culinary experience gorings and are back and back. we even went during covid when loud. post covid his like the chandeliers: oh! I hope that all will be improved in the coming months as the dinge to covid will return to a better place.

Despite the restaurant being mostly empty, the staff chose to seat all diners in one area, crammed closely together. It would have been more enjoyable to have some space between tables. Additionally, the maitre d' handled my complaint about the duck unprofessionally. Overall, I was not impressed with my experience at this restaurant.

We arrived at 7:30 pm for our reservation, only to realize that I had mistakenly booked it for 7:30 am. Due to the restaurant being fully booked, we were initially prepared to dine elsewhere. Food and staff are delightful! Special without being stuffy. The room is beautiful, even with its marmite chandeliers. (I would have loved to have seen what it looked like before the current Christmas tinsel craft project ones were installed). The bar menu also had a very nice selection of interesting cocktails and the wine list was very good. The sommelier had very interesting background information on the wines and it is clear she is passionate about wine knowledge. We can’t wait to go back!

We arrived at the restaurant around 7:15pm and left at 9:15pm. During our time there, we were served two courses, excluding a small and tasteless amuse bouche. We began with the hotel's specialty, Eggs Drumkilbo, which sounded good on the menu but turned out to be a small portion of shredded crab. We were charged £60 for that dish. The main course was delicious, but at that point, we were ready to go. With the inflated prices on wine, our total bill came to £275. Overall, it was not good value for the money we spent.

My husband and I went to the Goring restaurant to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We found it to have more of a hotel restaurant feel, with a stuffy atmosphere. We started with cocktails in the bar, which took about 20 minutes to arrive. My spritzer was watery and rose-flavored. Our starter was tasty but small - be aware that when they say "Orkney scallop," they mean one scallop for £24. We then waited another 20 minutes for our main courses to arrive, by which time we were quite hungry. The guineafowl and lamb main courses were very good. The service was okay, but not exceptional.
