"How refreshing not to be overcharged in this place in BRIXHAM, after looking in at a lot of places I walked into this one and was greeted warmly by the gentleman behind the counter, I was pleasantly surprised it was very clean, lovely seats and...friendly staff, I ordered chicken burger no bun, mushy peas and onion rings, (odd I know) I also am a fan of a good MILKSHAKE so ordered the chocolate thick MILKSHAKE, I was not disappointed IT WAS AMAZING the best one I have had in years, took me back to my childhood, which was a long time ago, all the food I saw going out looked great, I CANNOT PRAISE THIS PLACE ENOUGH A BIG THANK YOU TO THE STAFF. I WILL RETURN"

Took advantage of the special offer, Cod, chips, tea, bread and butter. Very tasty. Good value at £7.95. Toilets were spotless.

We always pop into The Golden Fish when we are having a day out in Brixham. The owners/staff are lovely and the food is no overpriced. Overall, I'd say good value for money and pleasant surroundings.

Visited mid afternoon for quick bite to eat. Very pleasant staff; paid £7.95 no bread and butter or cup of tea so no offer today !! The fish was rather flat seeing it was cod but the batter was very crispy and light. The food...was cooked to order so came out very hot and fresh, pity is they could have chipped a second potato as the portions was extremely small.

we have already visited the golden fish several times and not disappointed. the personal is very friendly and welcoming. we had the offer of fishing, chips, brot and hot drink at any occasion we visited. the fish and chips were very fast. and cooked freshly. the fish is really white and extremely tasty and the chips are tasty, without being fat. fantastic eating.

only visited to get ice creams for our children and also the fact that the lady who served us was really nice, the children were really happy with their ice creams. also the lady passed the wrong change through a couple. they chased us kindly and gave us the correct change that was really appreciated. will definitely visit again if next to in brixham with this great customer service!

We visited Brixham today and found the majority of restaurants/ pups stop serving food at 3pm, until we found the Golden Fish who were open. To the back of the shop there is plenty of seated tables, all spotlessly clean. Our meal was excellent value...and piping hot, well worth the money including apple pie and ice cream as a lovely sweet. The owners and staff were very friendly. If your looking for a good quality meal that doesn’t brake the bank then the Golden Fish is for you.

"From the off, everything was bang on point. The warmth of the welcome, being taken straight to our table and offered water and an aperitif promptly. We, a party of three, opted for the set lunch, which offers very good value for money. £29.50 for two courses, £35 for three, with two options for each course. Two of us opted for the baked Roscoff onion with pearl barley. Simple ingredients but beautifully cooked with a truly sublime brown onion sauce of such intensity, it lifted an already lovely plate of food to another level. The other person had the ponzu cured mackerel which she pronounced lovely but she had serious food envy over the onion dish. The main courses were grilled hake, which again was sauced to perfection and a grilled bavette with a vegetable medley and a pea? puree and a meat jus. We added a small dish of dauphinois at £5 which complimented everything very well. We drank a good and reasonably priced Rioja Blanco. No room for dessert sadly. This restaurant is not cheap but there is a difference between cost and value and The Elephant offers very good value with the set lunch; it allows you to sample really very good cooking at a price that will not break the bank. The normal a la carte menu is around double the price but on looking at what this offered, I would say that it again offers good value for money, being a step up in choice with more expensive ingredients. This is a serious restaurant. Go there. You will not be disappointed."
