"We ate at Garden Brasserie on the final night of our holiday in Norfolk. The restaurant is at the back of the Knights Hill hotel in a small section with views on to the garden. The decor is a little bit dated however it does feel like quite a traditional restaurant so in some ways suits its character. We were shown to our table by attentive staff who looked after us well during our meal. We were offered bread once we had ordered which was a nice touch, the number of restaurants that offer complimentary nibbles or bread is sadly very few and far between now. To start I had the mussels which were lovely, huge juicy mussels in a pot of rich white wine and garlic sauce. The mussels were a little bit gritty however the flavours were excellent and it wasn't enough to put me off. For my main course I had the sea bass which was cooked perfectly, melt in the mouth fish with crispy skin and plenty of seasoning. This was served with some lovely tenderstem broccoli, pureed butternut squash and fondant potato, all of which were excellent and made the dish actually quite a hearty meal. For desert we shared the chocolate brownie which was melt in the mouth and gorgeously chocolatey. The decor could do with an overhaul in Garden Brasserie but the food and service are excellent and more than make up for it. A lovely meal to end our holiday with."

Went for a post funeral buffet and drinks. All very well organised, with very attentive staff. Highly recommended, far superior to the Pub near the Crematorium.

We had sea bass and cod. Both were attractively presented. The sea bass was fresher than the cod. Overall, the food was just acceptable. Service was by pleasant but bumbling and casually dressed amateurs except for the young woman who took our orders, who was properly outfitted, efficient and knowledgeable.

We had reserved a table at the restaurant but arrived a bit late because our massages at the spa ran over time. The spa contacted the restaurant to inform them of our delay, which was not an issue. We were seated on the beautiful sunny patio and enjoyed our delicious meal along with plenty of tea. The service, atmosphere, and food were all fantastic.

I took my mom out for Sunday lunch and we both decided to try the smoked trout salmon bruschetta, which was amazing. The mushroom risotto with vegetables was also delicious. And the Eton mess for dessert was fantastic! My mom was very happy and felt spoiled. I had also treated her to afternoon tea before, which was also amazing. There were so many cakes that we had to take some home in doggy bags! Voir le carte

This restaurant is trying but it is a hotel restaurant so has its limitations. The menu options are good, not a silly amount of options available but everyone is catered for. The food quality is fine but not fantastic, service is a little hit and miss. Product knowledge not the best and second round of drinks not offered. This wasn’t a bad experience though and if weren’t so much of a snob I would of loved it.

The decor in this restaurant is straight out of the 1990s which didn't fill me with hope for the quality of the food, but I couldn't have been more pleasantly surprised. The food was excellent and the service efficient and friendly. My only criticism is that some of the descriptions on the menu weren't entirely accurate for instance, the cheeseboard didn't come wit the promised chutney. But overall, highly recommended.

Called in for a quick lunch. The carvery was very busy so went into the bar at the staff's advice. Found the entire area to be quite dark with hardly any natural light and limited artificial light. Ordered from the bar menu by attending the bar and paid. Price quite normal for such a chain. The dishes came within 15 minutes and were hot and as expected. I would not rush back due mainly to the bar atmosphere but it is OK for a quick lunch. Voir le carte

As other reviewers have noted, the décor is a little bland and old fashioned, but we ate here for the two nights that we were staying in the hotel and had an enjoyable meal on both nights. It gets very busy, so early booking is essential. Unfortunately the booking made on the first night at Reception was not transmitted to the restaurant but they managed to accommodate us slightly later so we had a drink at the bar first. The staff and very helpful and approachable. We mixed-and-matched between the a la carte menu and the chef's specials. I had the fishcakes to start on the first night, followed by venison, and then we had a sharing platter on the second, followed by lamb. The portion sizes...

We have stayed at Knights Hill Hotel multiple times and have always enjoyed our meals at the Garden Restaurant. However, during our recent visits with friends, we encountered some issues. On the first night, we had to send back a tough and inedible chorizo starter and a lamb main that was too rare, tough, and gristly. It seemed like others also had issues with the lamb, and the restaurant supervisor apologized for the subpar dishes. The following night, the restaurant staff did not have our names on the seating list, but we were eventually seated. Unfortunately, the service was slow, possibly due to a large group arriving for their pre-set meal. The staff seemed overwhelmed and disorganized,...

"We had pre-booked a table for 6 people to have lunch at 2:15pm. We arrived on time and were shown to the table, which had only been set for 4 people which meant we had to pull a further 2 chairs up to the table, and had to request a wine list. We ordered a round of drinks for the table which took c. 15 minutes to arrive. We were waiting a considerable amount of time for a food menu. Eventually we called a waiter over to order some food and were told that the kitchen we no longer serving, despite having booked a table for lunch and not being warned of the kitchen closing time. The staff told us to be quick in ordering however took a further 10 minutes to come and take the order. The food eventually came and the waitress didn 't even put the food at the correct place, she merely put them on the table for us to distribute accordingly. When the bill eventually came, we politely requested the *optional service charge was removed from the bill as we did not feel that we had received adequate service to warrant a tip, to which the manager began shouting that it as shocking that we wanted to rightfully remove the tip. He went on to say that the kitchen staff had stayed over time to prepare our food. My question to the owner is this... if your chefs are unwilling to work over their hours, why are you offering a reservation close to closing time whilst your staff are incapable of processing the orders to the kitchens in the correct timescale and working hours. If we were told that the kitchen were closing soon, we would have cooperated with the staff to help them work to their time scales."
