"Really was less than average and not a good experience. To start with customer service left a lot to be desired. Tricky to get bar staff attention considering it was not a busy bar. First beer was flat. Second beer had to be repoured as it had a shot glass floating in it! we ordered burgers for dinner. No cutlery given with this had to wait a fair time to be given it and had to ask the bar staff. I ordered a halloumi burger with chilli jam. it came without the chilli jam and none of the burgers were served with gerkins/jalapeño and relish as stated on the menu. I asked for the chilli jam to be told there wasn't any. I did say it would have been nice to have been told this when ordering. The chips on one of the burgers were actually spilt over me when served, no offer to replace this portion at all just carried on serving. The burger buns were very hard. We did tell the waitress after we had eaten it was very less than average. and were told they would pass this to the chef! Very disappointed! Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1"

We chose the Gainsborough for an important family reunion. What a great team of staff! They made us feel so welcome. Nothing was too much trouble. The lunch was most enjoyable and the price reasonable. I have rarely had such attentive staff from a pub/restaurant and would most certainly visit again. Our first visit to The Gainsborough and we weren't disappointed! Very friendly service and a good selection of ales...I was really pleased to find one of my favourite beers, Woodfordes Wherry available. We both ordered the roast chicken which was beautifully tender and served with a great selection of seasonal veg (more than we could manage! . My self and some friends have just had a Sunday lunch at the Gainsborough. Overall the food was good, however couple of things which disappointed us particularly the attitude of certain staff. The saucepan that the cauliflower cheese was in was extremely hot with no warning given luckily I could tell. The meal was supposed to have stuffing when asked the chef he said it wasn’t supposed to come with stuffing. However, clearly states on the menu it comes with stuffing. They went and got us some stuffing which turned out to be pork balls which wasn’t cooked in the middle.
