"After receiving confirmation from OpenTable with the code 822102241, my wife and I arrived at the restaurant last night at 7:20. Despite our reservation, we were told we did not have a booking. After refusing to sit at a coffee table in the lounge, the manager was able to find us a table in the restaurant and offered us a complimentary drink to salvage the situation. However, our troubles did not end there. When we ordered the beef, we were not asked how we wanted it cooked and had to send it back because it was too rare. Our dessert took 30 minutes to arrive, prompting us to ask the staff if there was an issue. Finally, my wife had to ask for a glass of wine 15 minutes after initially requesting it. Despite some minor issues, we were still charged an additional 10% for the lackluster service. We have been patrons of this restaurant for over 20 years, both as a couple and in larger groups. However, after last night's experience, we are unlikely to return. In recent years, there have been new establishments in the area that offer comparable or even superior service. Last night's service at the restaurant was truly disappointing for what should have been a special occasion."

We had a lovely afternoon tea and so grateful that the hotel was child friendly. Good service, lots to eat and not rushed.

We enjoyed a delightful afternoon tea in a fantastic, laid-back environment. I would highly recommend trying their afternoon tea.

I treated my mum to afternoon tea for her 80th birthday. They absolutely loved it! The staff were very friendly and welcoming, the food was delicious and there was plenty of it. It was their first time at the Five Arrows hotel, but they will definitely be returning.

The quality of the food was very good, so was the cooking. Considering the cost of the wines the menu choice didn’t do anything to compliment it. I hardly believe that fish and chips or pie of the day add up to fine dining. The choices in my opinion were somewhat limited and certainly we had better choices when staying there in the past on several occasions. Although not directly to do with this evening meal booking the slight disappointment spread to breakfast the next morning. In the past such things as toast were brought to the table whilst now you are presented with a toaster. The quantity of food for breakfast has also reduced, whereas on previous visits baked beans were served up in a...

"after we read the reviews we booked here when we went to waddesdon manor. pub wasn't open so we let ourselves in the back door. there is no direct access from the rooms to the inner of the pubs. we were a night, room 4 needs. a head part and a chair, and a dust, although a comfortable bed. low deck in the bathroom and quirky uneven floor plates. room 5 a single, very low deck suitable only for a child. red window frame, cracked glass, dirty difficult to pull blind, nosiey rayer that kept my friend awake all night. small bathroom, loo squeezed in by shower. the room is so small that it is recommended to open a window to cook the boiler to stop the smoke alarm off, or as recommended by the owner to put the boiler on the landing!. my friend had no sleep all night and was ice cold when she had to turn off the radiator. housekeeper told us owners knew about windows / rooms for weeks, but nothing had done to fix the problem. the menu is inspired withchellin with plastered cabbage, picked walnuts, meerrettich, white beans, which are included on the menu and partly written in French. it doesn't sell because there is no description. featherstone bavette .local bred pork chop boiled pink. bark marinated what I felt as hard. unfortunatley not for us. my last job worked as restaurant manager in a 5-star hotel knightsbridge and I fought to choose from the menu. the owners were fast, both rooms and bills to remove, thank you. the breakfast was excellent, although a pot tee, instead of a cup, a menu, and some ohrengrau tee might have been nice. we found the choice of very dark green walls and deck too dark. as a very old inn, has simply not done justice."

"Booked for a 70th Birthday last year and was so impressed i booked again for it this year. I write this review based on both visits to be fair to the place as they had some 'issues ' this time. Apparently they had some sort of flood so their pumps were out and only had one ale out of a on-the-bar barrel and fizzy drinks from a bottle. As only one of us was drinking alcohol and was happy with the ale, that was ok, but the other drinks were flat and warm. Previous visit though was 100%, no issues so will assume normally would be ok and we just had bad luck. The food was excellent both visits with the exception of the mushrooms in the mushroom sauce with the chicken supreme, they were really tough and i had to leave them. My only other comment on the food is that the menu hasn 't changed in that year and is maybe a little limited. The service was good. Both times there was just one person out the front, but as it 's a hotel, he was also the receptionist. Both times we visited for a 19:00 table we were the only ones in the restaurant, but the guy frequently had to leave for 10-15 minutes to deal with things in the hotel so we had to wait for ordering more drink. I dread to think how it would have been had more people been in the restaurant. The guy this time was new to the job so was a bit slow, but the previous time there was no waiting despite the man being alone. The whole building is 13th century with bits built on over the last 4-500 years. Yes, there 's a bit of scaffolding holding up a beam in the bar area, but apart from that it 's really amazing how well it 's all lasted. Last year the receptionist gave as a 'guided tour ' and was able to explain exactly what was what and from when. It 's a really interesting place, sadly we had forgotten most of it and this time the guy didn 't know quite so much, but after 4 weeks in the job, he had clearly been taught a lot. Overall, it 's maybe a little over-priced, but i 'll be back next year..."
