Excellent in every way. I did have a slight problem with one of the puddings but was well sorted by the excellent staff.

Easy to book. Visited early Saturday evening pleasant atmosphere and not noisy. Also good for garden and convenient parking.

Good food and service. The roast dinners were delicious with a generous portion of meat and vets. My partner had sticky duck salad which he said was delicious.

This was a special gathering for my friends. The bar staff were friendly and welcoming. Food was quick and tasted amazing. However we found that they left us quite a while before clearing our places and therefore we no longer fancied pudding! Shame

After previous positive experiences, we were very disappointed with our recent visit to this restaurant. The staff were not very friendly, service was slow and had to be requested, and the Hunters Chicken we ordered was not up to our usual expectations. It was simply a piece of chicken, a thick slice of bacon, and some chips. When my wife asked for an alternative to the chips, she still ended up with sweet potato chips, which she did not enjoy. Overall, the dish was overpriced for what it was. We had driven thirty miles for a special occasion but based on this experience, we will not be returning to this restaurant. lunch was for the annual day of my father-in-law who died 2 years ago. as usual the restaurant was very busy (always a good sign) so glad that we booked, especially as it fell with half-time. on the bottom this meant that it was quite loud and sometimes hard to hear our own conversation. we had a nice table at the fire that made it nice and cozy while we waited for our food. as usual there was a large and varied menu. after our last visit to her birthday, my mother-in-law again ordered the seabass and was not disappointed. Despite the great part, it was able to use the smaller desserts a free hot drink option that helped to round off an unforgettable visit for them.

Pleasant ambience and as good food and service as you can get in the immediate neighbourhood at the pub level. When not too crowded the service is excellent. The manager is visible, keen and cares and is prepared to do all the jobs to relieve the pressure when there are a lot of diners. He clearly wants the best. The waitresses are the best around in terms of speed, friendliness and doing the job. However tightness of staffing levels does mean that the pressure slows things down if there is an unexpected surge. We watched this happen on one visit pre Christmas and therefore chose not to come again until after Christmas. We will return because we enjoy the experience.

We went to the restaurant for lunch to commemorate the anniversary of my father-in-law, who passed away 2 years ago. The restaurant was bustling, which was a good sign, so we were grateful that we had made a reservation in advance, especially during half term. However, the noise level was high, making it difficult to hear our own conversation at times. We were seated at a cozy table by the fire, which was nice as we waited for our food. The menu was extensive and varied, as usual. My mother-in-law ordered the seabass again, following our previous visit for her birthday, and she was not disappointed.
