"This is a high quality restaurant with attentive staff. It is suitable for a special celebration of quiet dinner. There is a fixed price menu for around £60 with plenty, or even too much, choice. Canapes came first followed by amazing bread rolls with 2 types of butter delicious. The lobster starter, with supplement, was sublime but I found the scallops rather ordinary and lacking taste. Fillet steak was tender and served with interesting vegetables although I felt the need to include mouthwatering braised steak on the plate a bit of overkill detracting from the main course. The strawberry dessert was served in a large quantity with the crumble base being a little too thick for comfort. However the fresh strawberries drowning in sauce that surrounded that base were unusual and very tasty. None of our party of 4 managed to finish the desserts. The bill came to around £90 each (including service) and this could be reduced by avoiding cocktails and choosing a cheaper wine. The only criticism here is that this restaurant tries too hard and less may be more. You will certainly have a great meal here."

"We were a midweek lunch party of 4 retirerees. Usually lunch at Crown and Sandys or Kings Arms Ombersley but fancied a change. Very disappointed indeed. Basically poor choice, small portions, long wait and no atmosphere. This huge place is beautifully appointed but there was absolutely no atmosphere on arrival and only 2 other diners on this occasion. No welcome whatsoever from the staff. We chose our table and eventually our food from the limited menu. I was told my choice which was a risotto was not available so went for next best choice which was lamb. In fact 3 of us went for the lamb and one had cod and chips. The food took an hour to appear at the table!! It was nice but nothing special. The lamb was nicely cooked but the vegetables were a joke! 4 tiny cubes of potato. 3 chunks of carrot and a tablespoon of beetroot purée plus another desert spoon of gravy jus. To make a meal you will need to order vegetables and potatoes as a side too making it a fairly expensive meal. We couldn't get out of there fast enough and decided to move on to Lord Mortons for coffee and desert. What a good choice. And what a lovely welcome from the man himself. We're going there for lunch too next time."

"We decided to drop in for a last-minute Sunday lunch and were pleasantly surprised by the efficient and friendly service. The staff quickly cleaned and set a table for us, and we were delighted by the delicious sea bass tagliatelle with crab. The entire team worked smoothly together, providing excellent food and service. Overall, we give the food and drinks an excellent rating, the service a 5, and the location a 5."

"I made a reservation online for a family meal at this restaurant for my husband. Unfortunately, we had to wait to be greeted upon arrival. Another family arrived after us and was seated before us in the waiting area. Finally, after waiting for a few minutes, we were shown to our table. It took a while for the server to ask us for our drink order, and even longer for our food order to be taken. When our starters arrived, we had been waiting for quite some time. There was a mix-up with some nuts that were brought to our table, which caused some confusion. The starters were alright and the main course followed shortly after. Overall, the food was tasty and the restaurant was busy. However, there seemed to be a shortage of staff and the service was lacking. We waited a long time to pay our bill and we felt somewhat ignored by the staff. I may consider dining here again in the future, but with so many other options available, I do not see a reason for a return visit soon."

"Quite some time since we visited because of Covid but glad to go for an evening meal again and pleased it hasn't changed and still has high standards. Welcomed and taken to table wife pleased it still uses table clothes /linen , doesn't like restaurants which don't Starters : Whitebait very good especially as it is one of my favourites but not many restaurants offer it. Prawn and melon, also good Main : Very good fillet cooked just how I like it Salmon fillet also well cooked but prawn sauce ? Dessert : Creme caramel , most of their desserts are home made . Service absolutely no complaints , mine host takes an interest and talks to diners. It is off the beaten track right down the end of a narrow country lane and doesn't even have a sign on the main road but absolutely worth the effort."
