"Very disappointed with our takeaway meal from this place. My husband walked down from the campsite to purchase a takeaway and was told cash only so as he only had his phone to pay, he returned to the campsite to inform me of the situation. 8 then walked into the village to get cash out of the machine and order our food. I was told it would not be ready until 8.10pm over an hour and half wait). I asked if I needed to pay upfront but was told no. I agreed and returned to the campsite to wait. My husband then returned at said time to pick up our order. I ordered the seafood box and chips. The whole meal looked and tasted like it was cheap, nasty over fried in old oil food. Absolutely disgusting and I couldn't eat it gave it to my dogs). Hubbies was just as bad, he couldn't eat the brown shrivelled chips. A very long wait involving ×3 trips too and fro from campsite to chippy for nothing. I might also add that the owner was a miserable so n so who blatenently had no sense of humour and made me feel that I was an inconvenience for stepping into the chippy to attempt making an order. "Was staying at Butlins for the week and found this place by accident! Lots of homemade vegan pies and vegan gravy. Also had 4 flavours of vegan ice cream which was amazzzzing. The owner is also a painter with lots of his work for sale. Grabbed my self an amazing painting for £10 as well. Had our 7 year old with us who is a bit of a fussy little vegan. But even he left completely satisfied which is about as rare as a solar eclipse. Highly recommended for vegan families staying at Butlins minehead. Only a 15 minute drive from the site!"

"One thing I long on vacation is Afternoon Tea. This is my first and it was excellent. Local jam and vegetable cream with scorpion without butter. They also serve hot drinks with soy or oat milk. The staff was so friendly and when I asked how they made the Afternoon Tea vegan, they were just too happy to share. They are known about veganism. The terrain is breathtaking and worth a visit. Off the beaten track so we would never have discovered this gem without Happy Cow! Worth a visit."

"We have been coming to Porlock for over 30 years sometimes 2 or 3 times and have stayed at the ship several times in the past. The ship is our go to pub for our meals. We have always been satisfied with good quality food and when we have stayed we have received a lovely hearty breakfast! So what went wrong last night. The service and ambience of the pub was the same as usual and was expecting the same for our meals. Not so I ordered the pork steak which turn out to be a pork chop. I wouldn’t have ordered had I known as by the time the bone and fat is taken away you are left with 2 bits of meat. It was accompanied by one scoop of mash and 2 small tough kale leaves. The other meals were sea bass which my husband always has when it’s on the menu here. The difference this time beautifully presented on a large plate with a portion that looked like a starter. The other meal lamb which was the same. I know the cost of living has gone up but a few extra vegetables would add pennies to a meal. We always spend well over£60 with drinks and in the past left satisfied. But not this time we all left hungry and went back to our cottage for food. Fortunately we haven’t booked another night so will be going else where. Come on Ship I hope you take this on board otherwise you will loose business and we will miss you."
