"Our visit last night Thursday, June was not our first, and it won't be our last. Wadhurst has needed a fine restaurant like this and now seems to have got it at last. The menu immediately strikes you as on par...with the best in London, even if there are only half-a-dozen dishes listed. Last night, my wife chose the fish-of-the day, which was sole with crispy capers, samphire, jersey royals and lemon butter. I chose organic local chicken supreme with garlic, mozzarella, tomato and crushed potatoes. Mine was perfect, my wife's less so. The chef had been a little too generous with the lemon butter, or was it olive oil? There was one other fish on the list, and a vegetarian meal. The wines are very expensive, but there are some excellent beers available, our favourite being Harvey's best bitter. As for the general pricing policy, which has a lot of locals complaining, we think that for two courses or for three is reasonable. And perhaps this is a deliberate ruse to discourage families with noisy children in order to provide a place of rest for others. The waitresses could not be more friendly and polished, at the same time un-intrusive. We like the piped music, which is in the form of soothing songs with the level kept low. The new seats, too, are really cushioned armchairs. I would have liked the complimentary hot bread with butter to be granary, and I would have liked to see a side salad on the menu for a healthier meal. But altogether, every good wish is due to the owners Sussex Pass and the chef Adam Sear. We'll certainly go back, but we'll also keep watching them, for signs of their losing their nerve. Wadhurst, with some shops on the High Streets, badly needs them."

"In the past, when credit was easy to come by, a lot of money was invested in this area. The Swan is located in a beautiful spot on Lamberhurst Down, with a large vineyard in the back. The restaurant used to be part of a wine complex that included a visitors center and other upscale attractions, but now only the grapes remain. Unfortunately, The Swan still feels like a generic corporate venue with little charm beyond the bar area. Despite this, they are friendly and offer free food during pub quiz nights, serve Harveys London Pride, and have ample parking, a large beer garden, and a children's play area. It's not bad, but it falls short of what the village and surrounding area deserve. For a better experience, consider visiting The Elephants Head nearby instead."

"Went for Sunday lunch with my wife and her very elderly Aunty. Lovely quaint old country pub (so obviously, disabled access not great, but staff quick to help). Given a nice table in the conservatory, which was fine until a large family with two babies took the table next door, then we couldn't make Aunty hear anything we shouted at her....the landlady was very understanding and (even though they were very busy) found us a quieter table inside. Sunday roasts were very nice, I had the mixed roast dinner, roast beef was best, next chicken, next pork, last lamb (a bit chewy). Roast potatoes and veg excellent. Portions of mint sauce were pretty meagre, no cranberry sauce for the chicken, you have to pay extra for more gravy. Pudding were good, massive piece of sticky toffee pudding. Service very good, didn't get rushed to finish. Would come again."

"Six of us visited here two nights running for dinner and had an outstanding experience. The host was congenial; and efficient in making sure the service was second to none. The staff were very friendly, responsive and attentive and the food was top notch. The home made steak and ale pies were a real stand out the best we've had anywhere for many a year. The chef also pulled out all the stops to make us a delicious apple crumble (taken off the menu) thanks to a neighbour who was able to supply the apples. We wish we were local we would certainly be regulars. IF you are in the area then this place is worth a detour. Here's to the next time"

"Room was not great, lights were faulty and beds had stained sheets with a very small old pink tv in the room. The bathroom was moldy and i ended up skipping cleaning my teeth because the lack of hygiene was concerning, aswell as this my dad received a towel with a huge burn mark (we hope it was a burn mark). The pub was okay but it felt like it was more of a family home than a pub and not in a good way, the food was ok besides my chicken burger having a super sweet taste with an overwhelming flavour of dill despite no mention of dill at all, I suspect both the burger and fries were frozen or heated up. Didn’t taste well. Random noises woke us up all night as the walls are so so thin. After playing airsoft all day the hotel made me feel more disgusting than being out all day crawling around in mud. I would say the only redeemable qualities of this pub/hotel is the staff seem friendly and the dogs were very sweet. For 120 a night, I urge you to go to a travel lodge or premier inn. Anywhere but here."
