"On this occasion, a mixed experience. Met friends at 5pm for drinks. Table already booked for 8pm to dine. Bar busy, tables full of dirty glasses. We were invited to share a long table with another party. I made two trips to the bar with about sixteen empty glasses to make space for new drinks. Great to see the place so busy as it's our only local. My husband and his mates are regulars every Friday night, often on other days too. Unfortunately on this particular visit there was no draught beer or cold white wine. The reason for no hand-pulled beer was “The manager is cleaning the lines”. Yes really!!! Tea-time on December 29th whilst the pub and restaurant were heaving… It gets better!!! “The manager was still cleaning the lines over one hour later”. My husband and his friends drank Guinness, not their drink of choice but they are forgiving chaps. Apparently Howard who had arrived before us ordered a pint of cask beer and when he expressed his dismay at the timing of the line-cleaning was told, “if you don’t like it you can go somewhere else”. When I found my Chardonnay to be quite warm, I went to the bar and asked the barman if there was any “cold” white wine, he mauled my glass and said “it’s been in the fridge”, I replied “but it’s not cold”, he offered to put some ice in it. I didn’t want ice in my wine, it’s supposed to be served nicely chilled without the need for ice to water it down. To my surprise the barman offered to sell me a whole bottle of wine (presumably with a bucket of ice). I opted for ice and a dash of soda in my warm wine. Thinking ahead I asked if there were any other bottles of Chardonnay in the fridge so that I might have a glass of my favourite wine with a meal later on. The barman could offer no assurance, to be fair he seemed a little out of his depth, some further training will resolve this in the future. I attempted to discuss my experience with Johnny the restaurant manager when he came to our table later in the evening, he was uninterested, unapologetic and simply said, “We’ve been busy”. The food was ok, not fine dining but enjoyable and served to a good standard as we’ve come to expect from the Broughton Inn. I still feel disappointed by the shoddy attitude of certain staff members that evening. In the absence of an alternative within walking distance from our homes we will continue to spend our money there but with less enthusiasm than before. My current opinion of the management remains low."

Looking forward to something special on New Years Eve lunchtime. Certain aspects were good nice waitresses but food not up to expectation and very expensive for what it was. Nothing we can say was bad but then nothing really good either.

Went here with friends for dinner. The food and service were absolutely spot on. If I have one complaint it is that there are not enough seats in the lounge area for people wanting to have a drink pre or post dining. This wasn't the first time we had been to the Broughton, and it certainly won't be the last. The standard is consistently good and considering this was a busy Saturday evening we couldn't have been happier.

Great spot and nice atomosphere. Food okay. Waitresses always lovely. However, the manager needs to improve his attitude. I was ready to put a nice tip on their tip plate (as always) then after splitting the bill, he made comment to my friend she had tipped more on the card machine than me and high fived her. This was offensive and undermining and not a way to treat anyone. The fact that I am a regular at this pub made this even more disappointing.

My wife and I were driving north on the M6 and looking for somewhere for lunch, as an alternative to the usual soul-destroying motorway services. We found this place on Google Maps, just off Junction 32. So glad we did! We really enjoyed the food. Tender steak, delicious lamb, and some surprisingly good desserts. All very reasonably priced, too. And they had a decent selection of alcohol-free drinks, which was great for us. There was a nice atmosphere, and our servers were both really friendly and took good care of us. It's perhaps not a place to eat if you're in a hurry, but if you have an hour or two to spare, then you couldn't do better for a laid-back Sunday lunch. We'll definitely be ba...

Lovely roaring fire in entry lounge sets the scene for this inviting country pub. We had plenty of room in our booth in the rear so we could relax, chat and catch up together. Holly, our waitress was friendly taking our drink order while we perused the menu. Kids had proper healthy food options menu. Adult menu had great variety. We went for sticky chicken, beetroot arancini (super yum) garlic pizza. Excellent starter choices. Main of grilled chicken burger, their special beef burger, Marguerite pizza and superb fish n chips (beautiful light crispy batter with thick fillet. Triple fried chips for that extra crunch. Couldn’t finish it all as too full) In all this was a lovely meal; seating, s...

Me, my partner and our son came here for tea Monday evening, we had pre booked our table in anticipation of it being busy on the run up to Christmas. When we arrived it was really quiet, we got seated at our table and given the menus, 15 minutes went by and eventually a waitress came to take our drinks order, they arrived fairly quick but we were sat there for almost 30 minutes and our food order still hadn't been taken, so I asked a staff member if we could order food. I wouldn't mind if it was busy, I would of understood but when staff were stood around checking their phones and chatting, and there were only 2 other tables occupied, having to ask for someone to take our order is daft. Our...

We live locally so have been here a lot. The building itself is lovely and has a really nice atmosphere inside. I think they 've done a good job with making the different areas cosy and welcoming. Good selection of spirits and wines (though could do with more options for a couple of craft beers/IPAs). The food however is average at best, and very expensive for what it is. We 've eaten here about 5 times and it 's always been okay , nothing to write home about, but the bill is very high. My husband hit the nail on the head saying they 're charging fine dining prices for basic quality food after paying £16 for a very average chicken burger that would be about £10 elsewhere. I understand prices...
