"My son told me about this cafe. We had lived in Germany for 20 years and since returning to the UK in 1996 we had all missed our visits to the schnelly so we decided to travel over to Richmond this afternoon to check the place out. We both had gyros pitta mit pommes served with bottles of mayo and curry sauce on the table. It was fantastic and definitely worth the 100 mile round trip. My other half said he hadn 't tasted a gyros like it since we left Germany. He polished his off in record time and finished off mine as there was just too much on the plate for me. We are going again for the Jager and Zigeuner schnitzels. My only complaint, and it 's a small one is that the young lad serving us was maybe too attentive. I just wanted to stuff my face, not to assure him that everything was ok every few minutes. I know some people like attentive staff but I just loved my food too much to appreciate it."

Lovely little German cafe I always pop in for battwurst and chips to take out . The staff are always appreciative of your custom and nothing is a bother for them. The food is great. Pop in and try it.

Excellent food and very friendly staff. The outside looks very interesting but inside is a little bare and boring. Food quality is very good and difficult to find in most cafes. We will definatly go again.

Saw reviews and liking German food decided to try for tea. Pleasant clean interior with helpful staff and fantastic food with reasonable prices. Oh yes, now licensed so you can have a German beer with your meal. Voir le carte

Now a regular diner at this venue. Generous portions of good wholesome British food, along with German favourites on the menu. Attentive and welcoming staff tick all the boxes, making this the ideal place to eat for us. The couple of negative reviews below, are certainly not the Bread Bowl that we know and use.

I visited today with my dad. My dad mum lived in Berlin and I went to Windsor Boys School in Hamm, West Germany 1967 1968. Unfortunately I'm now vegetarian so couldn't renew my love of German sausages. The lady who runs the restaurant went to Windsor Girls School told me that she served Quorn burgers in a burger bun. I ordered one and got two burgers with salad. I also ordered pomme frites (so tasty). Complete with authentic German curry ketchup mayonnaise. To go with it I had a Dortmunder Beer. My dad had chicken sweet corn soup with bread bun big chunks of chicken and a coffee. Will call in again with my daughter next time.

"all those people who leave 1 star (or low star reviews) have either extremely high expectations or just have to be out to harm the call of a gem of a sandwich shop. I stopped yesterday, was late for lunch to my surprise and joy that they were still open, was a waiting queue to eat, so I might have been happy that they thought they would do 1 more order. I had the cheese-cutney sandwich couldn't resist the Scotch egg with black pudding. the Scotch egg was phenomenal, black pudding mixed with the sausage meat, a soft egg yolk practically still runny, which I really did not expect to add only to the already large aromene, the egg comes with a small pot homemade brown sauce (ketchup is an option, but I prefer brown soße) also the soße is a normal but it is a manifestation, it is a the sandwich was ineffective, thick-cut cheese on a homemade roll with homemade chutney (I suppose when everything else was made home) filled with fresh salad, I am curious what the difference between this is the ploughman’s, as it was in the round a ploughmans sandwich. the brot, cheese salad were all fresh taste amazing, the chutney transformed it, was like a cross between chutney salsa like the brown sauce was more sweet without much flavor, but really a great amount taste to what was possibly the best sandwich I had ever had! well made youngs, eating is great a try worth. reasonably also consider that it is the center of harrogate."
