A pleasant lunch, which was very good value because the mains were half price, part of the January deal for signing up to their newsletter. Usual prices are rather high. The food was good quality.

We had been to this pub a few times for Sunday lunch and had good food and service each time. Last night (Saturday) the service was extremely slow and the food was very sub standard. A medium steak sitting in blood and unable to be cut easily, a burger which was extremely dense and heavy.

The menu had a limited selection with few options. The restaurant was uncomfortably cold; while a log fire had just been lit when we arrived at 12:30, it did little to warm the space. An electric heater near our table was not sufficient either. Other customers were bundled up in blankets that seemed to be meant for outdoor use. The staff did not offer any apologies for the cold conditions.

The food was quite enjoyable, but the mushroom dish arrived a bit too cold, and the other dishes were somewhat lukewarm. The staff reheat the food without any complaints, but the service overall was a little slow. On the positive side, the atmosphere was lovely and not too loud. We visited on Saturday, but we had dined there the previous Sunday, and the food was excellent that day. We also brought two dogs with us, and they were welcomed.

I went there for Sunday dinner at 4:30 p.m., as I had never eaten there before. I was disappointed to learn that they had run out of bratwurst, which led the three of us to opt for the roast chicken instead. After a wait of about 30 minutes between our starters and the main course, I was shocked by the small portion of chicken we received. It was just half a chicken breast and a tiny piece. My wife voiced her dissatisfaction, and the staff apologized, explaining that they had run out of the larger cuts. They offered her an additional piece, which she accepted, but it still wasn’t great.
