Called in for lunch on the chance of a table . Not to busy ,seated quickly ordered our meals ,which I have to say were ok ,good pub food

usual standard offering.... tasty... service a tad hit and miss... one big downside was my COLD yorkshire pud everyone else enjoyed their meals.... so just my luck

Last time here was somewhat dis heartened However this Sunday we went back and delighted to say The BLACK BOY is back to its best all clear plates said it all....all jolly and happy... went home FULL and happy Thanks to all Voir le carte

I visited the black boy with friends from work. We found it comfortable and welcoming. They had a decent choice of drinks at the bar and the food was good. (although we did pre order and they lost it. Then they did not have the ingrediants for the meal which I had chosen)

Great fresh, hot food tasty food served efficiently in a very user friendly and comfortable environment. You do pay for what you get here but that offers reassurance that the food will be good. Staff effective and personable. Highly recommended and remember to book in advance as it gets busy.

The restaurant was very crowded, but we were able to secure a table in the bar area. With a group of 8 people, I highly suggest making a reservation in advance. The staff were incredibly friendly, the bar had a great variety of drinks, and our food was served promptly. We all left feeling satisfied as the portions were generous and the food was delicious. This was our third visit to the restaurant, and it was slightly different this time as the upstairs was hosting a birthday party. We were seated downstairs, but we were treated to free live entertainment, which was a pleasant surprise. The food, as usual, was excellent. My son and I both ordered the 12oz steak, cooked to perfection - one medium and one medium-rare. My wife always enjoys the turkey roast, and we always have a great time when we visit.

My friends and I have been visiting this pub for lunch for a long time now, and it has maintained a very good standard of food and service overall until today. The food was of very good standard, but the service was very slow. We arrived on time, and were seated at our table. We the watched as other customers arriving after us were serviced with their food. We were seated a little after 12.30 hrs, our food arrived around 13.20 hrs, quite a wait in my view. Yes, it was busy, but in that case you put on appropriate staff ? I think we will be moving our meeting place in futre.

I went for a Christmas lunch at this restaurant today and I have to say I was very disappointed. The turkey dish consisted of one small sausage wrapped in slightly burnt bacon, one roast potato, a small sliver of soggy parsnip, and some mashed potato. It was served swimming in gravy with a side of unseasoned cabbage, carrots, broccoli, chunks of swede, and sprouts. There was no Yorkshire pudding and the gravy was poured all over the plate, which I personally did not like. The Christmas pudding I had for dessert was served with a brandy white sauce that was also poured over it.
