"I'm not thrilled to find Wetherspoons on Happy Cow, but since it's listed I'll admit that I've eaten here several times over the years. I usually come for the Thursday curry night or the occasional Sunday dinner. They do offer options for vegans, the beer selection is decent, and the prices are reasonable. It's just unfortunate that it's drawing business away from independent restaurants. The location in the Gala area of Durham is nice, but it's probably best to avoid it during busy times as it can get loud."

Never disappointed by Wetherspoons. A nice friendly atmosphere, usually by students, and in a great position in the city center.

Really good, food was great and the drinks offers are much cheaper compared to others. Never empty what tells you his good place. A great place so when it is busy, it never feels it, your certainly not cramped.

I and my brother were here on Thursday, we had Hot and Spicy Half Chicken with Chips, Coleslaw and Onion Rings, it was absolutely amazing, well made to provide the bar staff the beer and food. The atmosphere was fantastic.

Good selection of drinks at great prices. The food is basic but reasonably priced. Gets busy Saturday afternoon till late, can be slow to get served but overall a decent pub. Cleaning of tables could be better. Good Weatherspoon prices as usual!

I'm really pleased that this restaurant now offers vegan options. It's convenient to be able to easily see the vegan items on the menu, and the prices are affordable. I appreciate that they label their drinks as vegan as well, which is not common in many places. I particularly enjoyed their quorn nuggets.

really practical that soon a do vegan options, it is great because they can fall asleep and the vegan selection is clearly marked on the menu and it is affordable and they know what to expect. the drinks are also vegan characterized, which is not something they find many places! wonderful. their quorn nuggets are great! updated by previous review on 2020-10-25

Spacious bar with large outdoor area on the Riverside. There are a lot of steps down to the bar however there is a lift for disabled access. The staff were pleasant and table service was quick. The only reason I knocked a star off was because of the breakfast. I know it's pre made food and kept warm but the bacon looked like it was made from the fiery pits of hell and tasted like Satan's scorched earlobes.

I am not looking forward to seeing wetherspoons on happy cow, but it is on I can admit to having eaten here a series of places about the years, in which rule for Thursday curry night or the strange Sunday evening dinner once a year or so. only one can't believe it's business of the independent places. the location in the gala area of durham is beautiful, but probably best to avoid it during peak times as it can get revenge in there.

"Started off really well and went over to the counter and ordered a crepe with banana and Nutella and specifically stated no strawberries I also asked for a San Pelegríno still water as this was on the menu also. I was the first person to order and the last to eat in the end. I got brought my water over which was a cheaper brand water that I just paid £2 for what would I have liked to have seen ? We’ll when I asked for san pelligrino still water to be told that they don’t have that in. Finally my crepe comes and I take a bite and realise that it’s got strawberries in all the way through which I’m allergic too. One of my family members takes it back and says that I asked for banana not strawberry there’s a reason why I can’t eat it and didn’t want it on my crepe. Then 5 minutes later another crepe comes out that was my bitten crepe that someone had opened up and picked the strawberries out and put banana in. Disgusting absolutely … not sure if this was a mistake or just being stingy either way it’s not on. It then again gets returned because there is no way I am eating that and it gets explained once again there is a reason I can’t eat strawberries to which then one of the owners comes over to serve the correct crepe and apologise . I really hope a lesson was learnt today because cross contamination is not a joke. Please be careful when eating there. I didn’t get offered a refund but then again they were willing to serve me a bitten crepe again so it didn’t surprise me that much."
