"1st time to the Bishops finger and definitely the last, we ordered our drinks and went and sat outside in the garden, the waitress came over and said she’d give us a few minutes to decide what we wanted to eat from the menu, 10mins went past without seeing her, then she appeared only to sit next to our table on her break smoking like a trooper with her friend, she got up went inside came out again and brought drinks to another table. My wife decided to go inside and order our meals, 2xBurgers, 1 salt beef sandwich, and 1 kids meal, 40mins later the the food arrived and well the salt beef sandwich was on stale bread and had hardly any filling inside, I’d say they made it and left it while they were cooking the rest of the meal I should have said it wasn’t even busy) so a 40min wait for our food was absolutely ridiculous. The Burgers were ok nothing special as was the kids meal. As for the waitress She didn’t even come back over to see if we had ordered, but she did have 2 more smoke breaks before we got our lunch. I’m only giving it Because the burgers were ok otherwise it would be . Avoid this place its not worth the money or your time"

I visited this restaurant after a family party. It's a decent pub with a diverse range of drinks available. It's definitely worth dropping in for a pint or two. The pub has ample space to accommodate large groups.

Really nice, well maintained and clean pub. They have a lovely court yard garden. The staff are very friendly. The chicken wings and loaded fries were great, would definitely recommend a visit. Also really good music playlist.

Great Shepherd and Neame pub with friendly staff, great food and lovely beer. Highly recommend the burgers. The pub does have a beer garden, we didn't use due to it raining. Atmosphere was very chilled out and comfortable. The was very clean. Will definitely return next time we are in Canterbury. Voir le carte

Spent a week long staycation in Canterbury and fell upon the Bishops Finger by pure chance and so glad we did. Service was great. They even did table service on drinks. Of the week long stay, we visited the Bishops Finger around 5 times for drinks. We didn't eat there, so cannot comment but the food that was coming out looked very nice and big portions.

It's was by chance that we came across The Bishops finger, we had walked all around the high street. The staff were brilliant, it was a moden style pub, but had the old school values where the staff take time to talk to you and make you feel welcome. The food was outstanding wish I was staying longer so I could try the whole menu. So if your in the area pop your head in you won't be disappointed. Voir le carte

I used to visit the Bishops Finger pub frequently in the early 1970s, so it was an easy choice to have lunch there. We were very impressed with the menu, especially the fish options, which turned out to be excellent. The staff were friendly and attentive to my stories of the past, as it was quiet during our visit. Although it took longer than expected to receive our food (we were hungry!), it was worth the wait. A meal of haddock, chips, mushy peas, and a pint made for a delicious lunch. The prices were very reasonable, and overall, it was a case of 'simple things done well'.

This restaurant served the most revolting food I have ever encountered. Despite advertising Shepherds Pie with wilted greens, what was actually served was boiled white cabbage alongside a poorly presented, burnt pie. The manager admitted to never having tried the food himself and refused to take responsibility, as he does not eat the pub food. He even refused to look at a picture of the wilted greens, which clearly proved our point. While the burger was decent, the chips were tainted with the taste of old oil. However, the young man behind the bar was charming. Although we were eventually refunded, this was not enough to make up for the terrible experience. It is clear that this establishmen...

"After never visiting Canterbury before we where looking for somewhere to have a late lunch, we came across this place which looked ok, upon entering the back room we were offered to take a seat in the front area and someone will be with us. We asked what food there was and we where sarcastically shown the food on the blackboard, after choosing what we wanted the polite man went off and put the order in. We did feel that because the man had asked a couple of questions to another member of staff that he was spoke down too a bit. Anyway after placing the order and what we wanted the food came out it wasn’t correct but because it seemed like we were going to interrupt the people in the back room we just took what we had. It was nice food though. When we went to pay we hadn’t noticed that there wasn’t a price list so when we asked for the bill we were told that it was donation, what we thought was enough, it wasn’t posted anywhere and it took us by surprise as we where standing at the till, I was going to pay in cash but was told they don’t take cash so I had to give my donation in card by telling the person how much we where donating. After plucking a figure out of air as we wasn’t prepared we paid and left. Upon leaving we felt that the person we paid thought we hadn’t paid enough and wasn’t happy with the amount but after working out what we would have paid properly we worked out that we had paid more than what it might have been if there was a proper price on everything. Overall it has a great ethos and it’s great for giving people the experience that they need to be in a working environment but they need to show the price or tell customers first that it’s donations and card only."
