"Had Sunday lunch here a few weeks back (2 adults, 2 children under 8 . We were the first booking in there, as the children like to eat relatively early. Despite this, the food took around an hour and a half to arrive. The children were understandably restless and got down from their chairs at one point, only to be barked at directly by the passing chef (who is possibly also the owner? . The bar waiting staff were very friendly. I think they were trying to make up for the owner. When the food did arrive, in fairness, it was very nice. An excellent roast dinner. We made the mistake of ordering dessert for the children, which also took an age to arrive. Our table was booked at around 12:30 and we weren't able to leave until after 4pm. This echoes recent reviews so it looks like it wasn't a one off both the speed of service and the unwelcoming personality of a certain person. If you have a slow afternoon, then you may well enjoy your time here. But if you have somewhere to be, or if you or your children are hungry, perhaps give it a miss. It's a shame, because the decor is lovely, and there's a good range of food and drink. I think it would do a roaring trade if it could speed up its service, and if the owner could be a little more welcoming."

Returned to the Barley Mow after its long closure and refurb best it’s been in 27 years. Really good decor, lighting and music. Service was fantastic. Look forward to when food becomes available. Good luck to Chris and the team

So upset and disappointed again Social media posts happily claim only pub. In the village but you cancel locals all the time Thought you liked the small dining groups so booked important event with months of notice ,restaurant that’s never really been opened has last minute issues, again Luckily Fox and Hounds Whittlebury could step in as hosted the most amazing evening

Popped in for a family meal on a busy evening. The friendly lady behind the bar gave us a clear idea on waiting time and we didn't have long to wait at all surprising given how busy it was. Burgers were really nice especially the lamb kofta. Kids cleared their plates in no time! Nice buzz about the place: locals at the bar but friendly and respectful. Ate in the lovely garden with added bonus of playground just outside the gate. Will visit again. Voir le carte

Popped in to our local for a pint with our young adults.. and ended up eating there as the food that was coming out of the kitchen looked irresistible. So we ordered our food just after a table of ten and ours arrived in what felt like only a few minutes. It would not be wrong to describe it as incredible, I would highly recommend to anyone to go here and support our local. The look and feel of place has been transformed in to something wonderful, Chris and his ladies behind the bar, a real well done.

Came for a family get together with three generations. Sat outside in the lovely garden and had a great meal while the kids played on the playground just outside the gate. Think they must have dealt with the service staff problems that other reviews mention as service was quick and polite. The food was delicious, and all plates very happily finished. The chilli was especially good, and fussy teen judged the burger as one of the best he's had. Lovely to have nice food together outside in the sunshine the kids are nagging us to come back1

Just checked their website, Tripadvisor and Google and saw the pub is open. Arrived to see a guy stood on the road as I pulled into park. Wound the window down and asked if this was the car park for the pub to revive a reply as “is is, but what is it to you?” I replied that I was meeting a friend here and he said, “well that’s not happening as we are closed” I replied that his website and Google show it’s open that’s why I’m there to be met with rude replies… So arrogant. Honestly I didn’t think pub could burn customers under the current climate…who knew?! Avoid. Voir le carte

A disappointing meal at this lovely village pub with no apology for the very slow service and excuses made when questioned if the food was going to arrive a hour after arrival that they had a 3 tables to cook for!! Wrong order arrived so food delayed further and it seemed a they had no staff and a lovely, polite but very young girl was the only staff seen. Table booked at 7.30 food arrived at 8.40 we were all starving! I had checked the reviews and booked it. Locals were very drunk and loud with repeated swearing in front of our family but that’s no fault of the pub! Food when it arrived was nice.

We love in the village and its the first time we 've eaten here in a while (this evening). Waitress service was excellent. Unfortunately, the food was a massive let down. Ordered the pork belly roast and it was INEDIBLE! It was incredibly tough, chewy and flavourless. Kids had roast chicken and even they couldn 't eat that as they said it was too dry [it was I tried it also]. The veg was ok, roast potatoes were OK but not crispy at all. Such a shame as I 'd love to support our village pub but we won 't return again. Did quietly mention the problem to the waitress who passed my comment onto the chef, whose response was I 've been serving it all day and refused to admit there was anything wron...

"we had read very good reviews about the green room, me and 2 friends who have not seen themselves for a few years decided to go for the afternoon. we telephoned, booked afternoon tea and paid our deposit 2 days before. when we arrived. the waiter took us on our table and said: “I’m sorry, but the system didn’t update, so they didn’t know that we wanted to go the afternoon.” that seemed very strange when they had taken the deposit from us 2 days ago! the waiter said we had to order from the normal midday menu. after we had eaten our salad! we wanted to order 3 coffees, I asked the waitress if we could order coffee, her answer was: “It’s difficult because I don’t have a pen!” I didn’t reply, there are only 3 coffees and cakes. I then asked about the bill that lasted about 15 minutes when they finally arrived, they had not taken the deposit we had previously paid, and the waitress said: "She must talk to the manager, I explained that I stayed 10 minutes on the parking lot, so she could be fast. When I asked her what happened to the bill she said, they must go into the bar and sort it with the manager. I was very annoyed by the lack of customer service, not only had they forgotten our afternoon, but had also accused the wrong crowd. he was quite arrogant and served other people and let us wait. he said he would take £11 for the mistake with the afternoon! it is a shame that eating and the environment is very beautiful. Unfortunately, the customer service makes this place so much down. it is safe to say we will never return or will not recommend it to one of our friends."
