"After numerous visits to Tantis under Hans Haas’ era over the past 15 years, I was looking forward to experiencing the new era under Benjamin Chmura. First impressions: Tantris has kept its incredible 70s charm, only tweaking the look and feel where necessary. But Tantris...is primarily all about the the food, secondary about the wine and finally about the service. The service remains friendly, experienced, uncomplicated but with the expected level of professionality. The wine accompaniment to the grand menu was very good. A knowledgeable sommelier and an interesting mix of wines. But very pricey nearly €300 for the grand menu accompaniment is too much). Which brings us to the food. My guests were uncomplicated but experienced multi-Michelin star customers. The general consensus can be summarized as follows. Amuse Gueules: very boring and unexpired. Dry mainly bread-based) and non-exciting, not the culinary explosion which usually enhances expectation for a great dinner. First dishes Langoustine, Scallops, Lobster) – Excellent, interesting, diverse. The only part of the evening that lived up to expectation. “Mains” Veal, Turbot, Lamb). Veal good, turbot forgettable, lamb replacement for pigeon) quite possibly the worst dish ever experienced in a Michelin-star restaurant. Totally bland, unacceptably boring. Desserts – 2 very similar chocolate desserts. Totally forgettable and far too similar. Eating at any 2 or 3 star restaurant should leave you with a couple of memorable dishes that you recall for weeks. But Tantris 2022 left us totally underwhelmed. It was an enjoyable night at a legendary location, but asking 3- Michelin) star prices >600 per person) for a 1- Michelin) star experience simply is not enough."
