"We visited on a whim after attending the heritage day in Ipswich, we had not booked but were seated almost immediately, downstairs by the window. We ordered starters, mains and BUBBLE TEA!!! The best bubble tea! Loyalty cards too : Our starters, calamari, octopus salad and avocado salad. All looked amazing. Loved the calamari and avocado though not a fan of the octopus personal preference. The mains, we both ordered ramens. Chicken for one, seafood for the other, absolutely delicious! This is a restaurant where you definitely eat with your eyes. It was awesome to be in view of the kitchen, larger parties ordering lots of food, and the robot delivering Birthday wishes. Definitely a go to for a celebration, though you need to be seated downstairs to gain the full experience. The service is always excellent and we cannot wait to revisit. Our only query was the pricing, given that we ate at lunchtime the ramen is priced somewhat differently to that if you eat later, and we were charged the later slightly more expensive price. The food was delicious and plentiful and what we ordered for 2, was enough for 3, as we took home the remainder to pass on to another to try. Excited for a celebration so that we may revisit and definitely a go to if you are ever in town and fancy a bubble tea as a beverage. We can highly recommend the specials."

This really is an amazing restaurant, a real gem in Ipswich. Exceptional food and friendly, discreet service. It is our favourite family restaurant in town. Highly recommended!

Lovely, lovely food! Me and my husband had a delicious dinner at this restaurant tonight. The food was amazing, we loved it! The Miso soup the best I ever had! We are looking forward to come back with our kids.

I went to this restaurant for a birthday dinner. It was my first time visiting since they moved to a new location. The food and service were fantastic. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone. We will definitely be going back again soon. Voir le carte

I was excited to dine at this restaurant, but unfortunately, we waited inside for five minutes without anyone acknowledging us. I had to go to the bar to ask for a table, but I was ignored and told to wait. Ultimately, we decided to leave and eat somewhere else.

Outstanding! The service was elegant and attentive. The food was amazing. This was my third time dining here and I will definitely be returning. The restaurant is beautifully decorated. I can't imagine there are many restaurants in Ipswich that are better than this one.

Wow, what amazing food! I don't think I have ever had some of these delicious tastes before. The Pork ribs were to die for, so succulent. And although it was very busy mid-week, the service was still very good. One of the best restaurants I have ever been to, highly recommended. Voir le carte

We have eaten here many times before and again in the new premises on St Nicholas St; a much improved venue for this town centre eatery. Food is excellent. A fusion of Japanese and other Asian cuisines. Staff are friendly and well informed and happy to talk you through the menu. The menu is large so there is plenty to try on each visit or just return to your favourites. Booking is essential.

My friend took me out for a birthday dinner at Takayama. This restaurant is actually my favourite restaurant, but I have actually never visited n person before, due to a combination of ill health and disability. The restaurant has excellent disabled access and facilities. There was enough room for my wheelchair, without it causing obstructions. The decor was modern and ambient. I loved the cherry blossom trees indoors. The food was as delicious as always. I had the Sashimi. Our waitress was sweet and attentive she also reminded me of my younger self, with her elegant stylish billowing sleeves). The rest of the staff also really friendly, with only one exception, the gentleman who brought the...

"Checking in to a hotel in an unfamiliar place, it is tempting to book one 's first evening meal in the hotel 's restaurant (unless, of course, one has had chance to research the alternatives beforehand . This may seem a safe option, but is often a mistake, as it was on my visit to Ipswich. Had I only known that a minute 's walk along the quayside would have taken me to Mariners, I should have eaten there twice rather than only once! A floating restaurant can often prove to be a bit of a gimmick, but Mariners seemed to get good reviews so, on night two, I gave it a try. A beautifully restored and maintained Dutch customs gunboat from 1900, with gleaming brass and polished woodwork, the restaurant offers a limited, but well-constructed, menu to satisfy most tastes. Being aboard a boat, I opted for seafood, and was not disappointed. There being an R in the month , mussels were a good choice for my starter, followed by a seafood skewer , presented with just enough theatre to be amusing but not over the top. Not fine dining , perhaps, but well-prepared, nicely presented and very satisfying dishes at reasonable prices. A limited wine list, perhaps a bit on the pricey side, but the Picpoul de Pinet proved to be an excellent accompaniment without over-stressing the credit card. Service struck just the right balance between politeness and friendliness. My fellow diners embraced the whole age spectrum (I was by far the oldest! weighted perhaps towards the younger end, the common factor being that everyone (myself included was clearly enjoying themself. There are many other dining venues along the Ipswich quayside that my brief visit did not allow me to try, but Mariners can be recommended as a safe and enjoyable bet."
