"We were having a short break in Exmouth and were so impressed with the food on the first night that we booked for the next night as well. The restaurant from the outside looks small and cosy, but don’t be put off if the tables...look full as there as other room, equally as cosy, deeper in the premises The menu is interesting with a good selection of dishes and I found it difficult to choose a dish, simply because there were several that took my fancy. My wife had Chicken Souvlaki which, unlike a lot of chicken dishes was not dry and very tasty. My Lamb Kleftico was well cooked so that it fell off of the bone and was delicately spiced with a rich sauce. It was juicy and tender melted in the mouth. The second night my partner had carrot and cheese souflee served with a rich tomato sauce, Mediterranean vegetables boulangere potatoes. This I am told was lovely with a great flavour. The vegetables were cooked perfectly, so often these are overdone but these had just the right amount of crunch left in them. Myself I had Moroccan Lamb Tagine. Having eaten this in Marrakesh I was a little dubious but I need not have worried. It was not as rustic as that served in Morocco, much more refined, but just as tasty and cooked to perfection. For dessert we shared a Summer Berry Bread Butter Pudding with mixed berries. It had a good contrast on sweet and slightly sharp berries that complimented each other. The service was good, efficient, and friendly. Where there was a question , the owner was always happy to answer and obviously took a great pride, and rightly so of her restaurant. If you get a chance this is a must try restaurant and I have no trouble recommending it."

"Out of the two pubs in Cockwood, I definitely prefer this one, food is good, ales are well-kept and prices a decent bit cheaper than the other place. OK you 're not going to get quite the same sea view as the one next door, but when it 's dark and hammering it down with rain, that 's not an issue. Beer garden was closed due to weather, but it is very nice when it 's open. Plus the fact it has more of a traditional friendly local pub vibe, whilst still serving up good food, whereas next door feels more like it 's concentrating on food first, pub vibes second. Also I think the chef at the Ship is more open to 'dish of the day ' special menu options according to what 's good/seasonal at the markets, vs next door that doesn 't seem to change it up so much. It is, however, quite a bit smaller than the other pub so recommend ringing ahead to secure a table if you 're planning to eat."

"Seems similar to Fishworks, Mitchell Tonks' earlier chain of restaurants but more affordable. Raw materials seem extremely high quality. We had fresh plaice and skate and they were excellent. It seems as though the service is still variable; the main waitress who served us was good but the others seemed a little less professional but they were all friendly and my assumption is they'll get the hang of it. Great views as well, so if you combine the views, the food and the ambiance then this is a great restaurant to go to. Sort out the staff and it could be outstanding [if you like fish : ."

"Hadn’t been in to OUR FAVOURITE pub for a while but so glad to see and feel the place is even better than ever! We were there on Friday 27th April and even at 17:00-ish it was busy and buzzing. Wide selection of beers, lagers, ciders wines spirits as usual- draught keg hand-pulled tap..all there! I even tried the blush cider which was a lovely alternative to prosecco for a change. Staff were happy and helpful...food was amazing...booking our place for Oktoberfest already!"

"Great views of garden and water. Turkey curry with mango chutney was very good. We also had a burger, lasagna and beef goulash plus a side of cheese chips so there's a great variety of offerings. The cider was wonderful so much better than in the states where they are usually way too sweet.g"
