An early evening meal afforded us a quiet venue in an atmospheric environment. The service was a bit slow, and not all items ordered for my main course arrived together. Eventually the chips arrived; by that time I had told another waiter not to bother.

Lovely old fashioned feeling to this dining room. The staff were friendly and conscientious. Food was excellent, beautiful home made pate and a supersized prawn cocktail. Sunday roasts good and an excellently flavoured risotto. Afterwards we had coffee in the beautiful garden. Will definitely be returning.

I rated some aspects low because I had made a reservation at the restaurant, only to find out there was a computer issue, and the restaurant was full. They ended up seating my wife and me in the conservatory, where we were the only guests. This was quite disappointing. However, the service was outstanding, and the food was enjoyable. We were assured that if we come back, we will definitely be seated in the main restaurant.

I gave some low scores for a few reasons. First, I had a table in the restaurant, but there was a problem with the computer. The restaurant was full, and they offered us a table in the winter garden, where my wife and I were the only people. We were quite disappointed, to say the least. However, I must say that the service was excellent, and the food was good. We are certain that when we return, we will definitely choose to sit in the main restaurant.
