"We had been hunting around for a alternative location for a superb cream tea after reading that Chessel Pottery has gone very much downhill and no longer makes the cream teas it was famous for. Lady Scarlett’s has an incredible record of top scores, which we’re now extremely suspicious of. We phoned ahead to check for availability and although the person on the phone wasn’t rude, they made us feel we’d possibly made a bad choice with their attitude on the phone. You can’t judge a book by its cover, but when we arrived at the place, we wondered if it was really the right place. Sadly it was. Not very inviting and seemed a bit too rough around the edges, despite the ‘World War period’ theme. When we entered, a grumpy man (possibly the owner) was there observing people coming in, although very few people were coming in (a big sign of bad things). When we mentioned issues parking, he told us that there’s lots of parking in Newport. This location is nowhere near that, so we assume we were being told to go elsewhere if we didn’t like it! Lovely! The place was empty whilst others were full, so there’s a hint! We left without ordering anything. An unpleasant experience."

"the most delicious ice of the world, in aromen, the willy wonka give a round for its money. and service that is so honest and warm that they feel that they visit a generous gourmet friend, and not a business. I lost the number of how many times she over and beyond for us only a family who visit the island for a few weeks in the year. special flavors whistled to make our child happy; special container lent so my mother could bring a surprise package to gloucestershire; even secret Christmas ice cream cake orders until then magically made so small children think that santa has exemplary taste in ice. they are amazing. and I see that the warmth and ease extend to all their customers, every time we visit. that is a really very special place. my only regret is waiting so long to leave five stars, I thought I had checked you before!"

"Superb, friendly service and a brigade performing at top level despite it being New Years day! Every dish perfectly executed and all courses fresh, flavoursome and both aesthetically and palate pleasing. Some really inspired cooking and perfectly balanced flavours for even the most jaded Christmas palate. Even the fries are cooked with love and are crisp and moreish. Such exciting dishes that dessert was swerved in favour of returning to the starters for scallops with a wowsering Hibiki Whisky Bacon Bon Bon. Cocktails are taken seriously here and are equally creative; this is no eatery just tipping its hat at mixology. Relax, enjoy the atmosphere and experience the fact this restaurant ‘does what it says on the tin’ it is most definitely’smokin’."

"Today was our first visit and we highly recommend for any couples friends who are going out for lunch!! Donna and John were both so warming and welcoming on arrival and they have a wide variety of panini’s, sandwiches, jacket potato’s and beautiful cakes sweet treats on their menu! We had the best pulled pork paninis and fruit scones!! We haven’t stopped telling everyone about it! We definitely will be returning and highly recommend a visit for anyone visiting Shanklin!"

"I absolutely loved this restaurant! It offers authentic Italian cuisine and a wonderful atmosphere. The food was amazing—we enjoyed a charcuterie board, pasta, and fish! The owner was incredibly friendly as well. There are plenty of options available for those with gluten allergies, making it a great choice for celiacs. Service was excellent, and we dined in for dinner. The price per person was around £20–30. Highly recommend!"
