"VERY DISAPOINTING. We had starter and main course. My starter was exellent. My Wifes starter was awful. She said there was too much garlic and the prawns were raw.I had a taste and that was correct. Then came the main. I had a King Prawn Madras that tasted like a Dhansak ,My Wife had a Chicken Tikka Masala, that clearly wasn't a Tikka. She didn't like it .When we complained .The waiter argued with me asking if had lentils in it as I criticised the most unlikely tasting Madras I have ever eaten.I felt the whole experiance unpleasant and humiliating. I really am not a person that likes to complain and wishes to praise.The service was good. Thoiugh not once did they ask if the food was good .Iwonder why?"

"edible maternal day lunch my first visit at the george in the beautiful village great amwell. from the moment we went, the staff were friendly, helpful and attentive. Drinks arrived immediately, as well as each of the 3 courses during our stay. it has a nice cozy atmosphere and eating is not only very well presented, it tastes delicious. more restaurant quality eat in a pub. it is not the cheapest place in the world, with menu prices that touch on london prices, but when they are in demand, and the people are happy to pay. then what can they expect me to return and recommend for a beautiful meal"

"Oh my god, it was a year ago when we visited last. The food then was brilliant, but this surpassed every expectation. The sardines as a starter and the garlic and chilli prawns which we kind of shared were outstanding, I had the veal as my main with black olives and capers in a rich sauce, I’m still dreaming of it, the other half had the seafood pasta, he wouldn’t give me a taste as he hugged his bowl with a broad grin on his face, so took that to be a hit. Dessert I had the lightest tiramisu ever, he had I don’t know what, he wouldn’t tell me, but it was so delicious, he admitted in the car on the way home he had just taken a stab at the desert menu as had forgotten his glasses, but I’m glad he did."

"The food at this restaurant was very good, but the staff was rude and judgmental. My daughter, who is a veterinary nurse, was told that they didn't offer her more drinks or dessert because they didn't think she could afford it. She would never eat somewhere she couldn't afford. The offer of a free meal was declined, as there was concern it may be tainted. Overall, the service was very disappointing. Dining in for dinner was the meal type."

"We were visiting Hoddesdon to see our six year old granddaughter appear in a dancing show at the local Spotlight theatre. She did well, recieving an award and medal so the family celebrated the event at the local Sun pub with an early evening meal and drinks. Arriving at 530pm on a Sunday night the car park was nearly full and the pub very busy. Decked out ready for Christmas the pub had a warm friendly family atmosphere. We ordered drinks and relaxed for 10-15 minutes whilst our table was made ready. The serving staff were attentive, friendly and helpful when we were making our selection of meals as not all dishes on the menu were available. We went for Hunters chicken, Scampi, Pizza, Chicken Roast and a Beef Roast dinner and weren't kept waiting long. When ordering deserts our granddaughter wanted a 99 Ice Cream cone and Grandma had a quiet word with our waitress to see if a candle could be added to the cone to help mark this special occasion. Despite the fact that they were busy it wasn't a problem and the ice cream cone with flake and lit candle was duly served to beeming smiles all round. We had a great evening and need to make a special mention of waitress Charlie and give her a really big thankyou from the whole family for looking after us for the evening, arranging the candle and helping to make lasting memories.
