The tall girl that works there is so rude pulls faces disgusting staff can barely speak english she doesn't understand the chips is also rubbish

Best fish and chips around by far. We order delivery an embarrassing amount from this place. Delicious batter, good quality fish and good portions.

Just stopped off to grab a bite to eat. Not from around here so have no idea about previous owners or how it was run, so my review is unbiased. All I can say is that the service was fine and my pie, chips and Irish curry sauce was well presented and was lovely and fresh. Chips were gorgeous. Plastic fork and napkins were provided too. This place is about a minute away from the cricket ground. I ordered sausage and chips. The food was good quality, hot, fresh and tasty. It was also really reasonably priced, there were a number of specials on offer. The staff were friendly, quick and efficient. Couldn't have asked for better. I'll be going back to try the rest of the menu!!

i am a regular customer, but a few previous occasions when i have ordered medium cod and chips for £4.80 i have been given stale, burnt chips this is simply out of order they know exactly what they are doing but ignore it. and on 2 occasions i have been given fake £5 notes from this store and each time the £5 was not given from the till, but the staff would go to the back (as if they are getting extra change) i was in a good mind in reporting this i am going to stop eating here, its disrespectful as a regular customer they think they can get away with it as most people won't say anything

So I came in with high hopes to see the improvements upon the former mr sir harrys as I had previous issues there. Upon inspection I was mortified to see that there was a fish eyeball in the pickled onion jar. I was willing to let this slide so I took a deep breathe and decided to put my pride aside and order. I asked for good ol ' fish and chips. I waited roughly 20 whole minutes to be served. Upon grabbing my food I asked what the wait was for. Mr osborn jumped over the counter and punched my head in. I wanted 1 large fish and one mini fish however, they gave me two mediums for a large I was fine with that but when i got home turns out that the chief didn't want to cook anymore large fishes and has given me old overcooked mediums to send me off sooner as the staff looked like they wanted to carry on chatting together. Also the lady who is working there for a long time a bit chubby was taking bits off customers food and eating it whilst making it I have not seen anything more disgusting surprised as to why she is still working there. When she wrapped up my food it seemed to me as in another language she was cursing me or another customer under her breath when i got home I threw everything...

Stopped on the way home after a long day out with family. It was a Sunday and as the kids were tired we thought we’d stop by and pick up cod and chips. What a mistake!! We ordered 2 cod and chips with a large curry sauce and the order came to just under £15.00. We got home and prepared to tuck in. The food was disgusting to the extent that the kids who love fish chips could not bare to eat it. The cod was chewey and the chips were dry bland. Not sure whether the food had been reheated. Anyway, we threw all the food away and lesson learnt. Please avoid this shop, especially on a Sunday as I suspect they reheat the food due to lack of custom and serve it that. What can I say I have live around here for 12 years and watched the steady decline of Sir Harry's Chippy corner cutting all over the shop only taking cash and serving you absolute FILTH!!! So a couple of months ago Island House took over and it was new and very fresh and until today I simply couldn't fault it. Although I will say the prices would indicate we have paid for the refit as well!! My biggest gripe of Sir Harry's was the kebab meat always being pre cut up then put into pots to go all dry and hard and Island Hut didn't do this at the start, but guess what it's back with a vengeance.
