"Hmmm, where do we start. Lovely view on arrival beautiful buildings although somewhat tired in places. The hotel was busy on arrival and we were informed that a wedding was taking place and that it could be a bit busy at times. We were allocated our room which was very nice however we were instantly aware of the wedding and could hear,pretty much word for word the speeches. Anyway we made ourselves comfortable and then went to explore the Hotel and grounds, the Spa looked and is lovely one of the best outdoor pools we have ever been in. Dinner on Sunday evening was good though the steak my husband had would have benefited from some veg but that is personal choice. We arrived back into our room around 8.30pm and realised very quickly that we would not be able to stay in for very long. The wedding celebration disco was in full swing and we had been awarded the room directly above the hall in which it was taking place. We sat for an hour by which time it had just got louder to the point all the furniture was vibrating like something from the clip in Jurassic Park on speed. We could not hear the television or each other speak. My husband went to speak with reception with regards the time that the wedding celebration may finish 12 midnight it appeared so a change of room was offered and accepted. Unfortunately the room offered was not of the same standard but at least it was not vibrating. Breakfast was good both mornings however dinner on the second night left a bit to be desired. We went for the smashed burger which arrived a metal tray that was warped and spun round in circles while trying to cut your food, had the prop it up with my mobile phone to stop the spinning. The little piece of blue checked paper that the food was placed on broke up while trying to cut the food so you had to be careful not to end up eating it. I would suggest in future that if a wedding is taking place the the guests staying at the hotel, there were plenty for this wedding as we sat having a coffee watching 30 of them check in after the speeches, are given the rooms connected to the venue and those of us looking for a quiet break are placed at the other end of the hotel. This would resolve the noise issues and having to move rooms. It was clear that we were not the only ones to be unhappy with the volume, as others had also complained. We booked the hotel as a result of having to swap a virgin balloon experience that after two years had never got off the ground. We did get given the free bottle of prosecco on arrival where as other guests had to ask for theirs so that's something. We did enjoy our time the area and would recommend the Spa but will probably not be visiting again soon."

Absolutely stunning hotel. What a beautiful room we had too. Set in absolutely jaw dropping scenery, with a distant view of Manchester lights out of the window. It was a group booking of 10 people. We were given an offer on drinks and cake which we didn't get in the end because it wasn't noted on the email which was quite annoying. The customer service at the coffee shop was very slow. I fancy a vegetable wrap but then without vegetables. Also overly priced at the coffee shop.

Went there for office party and stayed overnight. Reasonably good rooms and the party venue was quite good with good food and drinks option. The breakfast next morning was also quite good. Spa a little tired, lacking some attention to detail (mouldy grouting almost everywhere) particularly in steam room and inside pool. Very young teenage staff in spa in bar area, poor customer service skills and professionalism. Had to ask 3 times for wood to be added to fire, water dispenser empty, warm plastic cups straight from dishwasher given with prosecco in, staff don't seem generally happy. Okay value for money, but would prefer to pay more for professional service from staff, or even just a smile!
