"so I heard about this caffe on facebook, many people were dizzying about this place and said that they are family friendly, they do really good fry ups and have a play department for young children perfect for my month old son....I, my partner and my son went there on the other morning, ordered something coffee and breakfast. they had no sausages in (fair enough) and they did not make mushrooms, the possibility of black pudding or hash browns with their breakfast. we still ordered because we didn't have a frey for so long and we were really excited. I asked for no buzzing at the beginning, and my partner asked for no tomats, the female staff was pleasant, but they seemed quite nervous and hesitant, so we repeated the order a few times, she wrote it all down. Although they still seemed uncertain, I and my partner made some clear what we wanted. not long after we had set ourselves, we were served our coffee. I ordered a white chocolate latte, which unfortunately tasted as if she had no hauch of white chocolate in it. shortly after we got our breakfast served, and unfortunately they didn't get it right. my partner had tomaten with his and I had to borrow with mine, which naturally touches the rest of my eating. I said to the server that I did not ask for any drilling and my partner asked for no tomats, they said quite rudely, well we can scrape off the drones, but it touched the rest of their eating, it would mean that we make another one of scratches and throw away how I should feel guilty. Of course, I don't like food waste at all, but I made it very clear and I didn't ask for any food. I wondered anyway about a new one, and added that I think I made a normal latte, since it honestly did not taste like white chocolate at all. she almost snapped the cup out of my hand and went away without word. while I have been very pleasant to everyone there (I have worked in customer service for years, so I like the employees, but if I'm perfectly polite, I expect it in the opposite direction). shortly after, the same Rude server introduced my new breakfast, and again rudely said that my white chocolate latte was on the way and honestly gave me such a dirty, evil look, which was extremely unnamed, she is happy that I did not present her with my son, and all. unfortunately, when I received the new latte, it did not taste like white chocolate yet. I do not deny that the staff has not put in, I think the sirup they have used is not strong, not their fault at all! I drank it anyway when I felt like I had caused enough annoying. as regards breakfast, the only nice parts of it were the speck, the brot and the tomaten. the eggs were quite out and soggy, and my partner said the same about his. and it was really so minimalist for the price that they charge for them, they do not mushroom, black pudding (as option) or hash browns. and I also think if they specifically ask not to have something, then they should either pay a reduced rate or be offered extra by something else on the teller. Overall, I repaid and it was not worth it for the drinks and breakfasts. I think there could be any improvements, i.e. better communication between the employees, refresh the basic customer service skills for the rude female server, cook the egg just a little more thoroughly and bring some strong tasteful coffee syrups. this place is not terrible, so the stars. the play area is quite generous, many toys perfect for young children. my son enjoyed the play area (even if he usually tries to escape from him, the female workers behind the scenes were very pleasant and there were some asspects of our early pieces that we enjoyed, but unfortunately not satisfactory. I think the place would be good if they only have coffee, but I have the impression that they are not really early aligned, that is, the anorganization of our orders."

What a find! We really enjoyed our lunch at Serendipity in Horley. The sandwiches were on fresh local bread and the service was fantastic. Thanks for your hospitality!

On our return to Gatwick we stayed overnight in Horley and visited lunch time for cheese on toast and panini. Staff were helpful and brought over the drinks to our table Great value, even brought Worcester sauce in a little jug. large coffees

Came in for breakfast this morning and was disappointed they didn’t have any mushrooms.. the young girl behind the counter said they didn’t do them. Why? Shame. I had avocado instead They were pleasant enough though. Food was average. Plates were cold so not much...stayed warm. Coffee good. Chairs at the table were a bit low. Put a cushion on it and make it more cosy and comfortable.

absolutely terrible. just the worst part of the day I've ever had. not greeted by the staff. looked down. no personal. on the counter. ordered x suppe des tags. eating was distracted on a tablet, was on the table. (like McDonalds style). the suppe was a very demal cream of the chicken, served cold and was certainly from a dose or package. can't describe how terrible it was. neither of us had more than one spoon. no personal came to check how the meal was, so we immediately left. we will not return. 0 stars. My husband and I stopped in here for brunch last Sunday. The cafe is clean and welcoming and the staff were all very friendly. There is a good range of cakes and sandwiches behind the counter and there is an even larger choice of items...on the menus around the walls. Traditional breakfast dishes, American breakfast options, burgers, sandwiches, milkshakes, ice cream sundaes. There really is a good selection. I had the scrambled eggs on toast and there was plenty of egg to accompany the toast, which was refreshing usually I am trying to eke out the last bit of egg to go with the last mouthful of toast. I could quite happily sit there with a coffee and while away an hour or so with a nice cak...

I visited serendipity with my partner some time last year when we went for a fast shop in waitrose. it is quite small in the inner, but has a real home. there was a nice selection of sandwiches and breakfast, but I think the hot food...may have a little more variety all have very tasty. a thing that would be handy is menus instead of going to the counter to read the menu. you have to go one to a time, otherwise you can think that you are not being used. I'm not sure how this works now with the new procedure; maybe a use menu that can be disinfected after use? but yes, it's something I think would be nice to add so that not always stay on the table when I try to decide. really nice and friend...

"We booked the table at the Pheasant for 14th Dec 23 as we had our work Christmas dinner last December which was exceptionally good and we all enjoyed it. We expected the same level of service and quality of food this year but were shocked how standards have dropped.. Firstly, we booked the table few months ahead for our Xmas meal. When we arrived we were given two different menus Christmas set menu and usual pub menu. This is where some confusion has started. Two members of our team ordered starters and mains from the ordinary menu whilst others went for the Xmas set menu. We placed the order with the waitress who returned twice as she was confused who ordered what... After half an hour, we had another waitress coming to the table saying that the Chef and waitress were confused with our order and she needed to re take it. We repeated ourselves for the 3rd time. After awhile, the waitress came to say that there were only 2 trout starters left so we we had to choose a different option.. So from sitting down at 18:30 we finally had our starters at 8 pm... Mains I ordered Sirloin Steak (as Med Rare) from the Xmas set menu, others ordered vegetarian pie, Xmas Turkey meal and beef burger. Well, I had steak many times before and this was one of the worst I have ever had. First of all, it was Rare completely red and ****. I wanted to complain but there were no any members of staff around. I waited hoping that someone would come to the table asking if we were happy with our meals, but no one came. I carried on cutting it which was not easy as I have just had my hand surgery and the meat was not easy to cut due to the fat around the steak which did not melt as it was cooked as Rare, not Medium Rare. I was very hungry as have not eaten all day so continued eating it reluctantly hoping that I could catch someone 's attention but there were no staff in our area at all. The peppercorn sauce was lumpy and lukewarm and had a film on top which is indication that it was not freshly made. When I tried to pour it it came out in lumps.. Mushroom it states on the menu that steak comes with the Portobello mushroom.. Well, it came with 2 normal medium size mushrooms, not one large Portobello. I know what Portobello mushroom looks like and was looking forward to it but again was not impressed with that substitution. Chips were lukewarm (I tried some of them whilst I was waiting for my steak knife which was not given to me with the meal) so I ended up leaving some of them as by the time I started to eat them they were cold. My colleague who had the burger said that his burger was stone cold but he didn 't want to make a fuss in front of the team plus he needed to catch a train and it would have meant that he would need to wait for a fresh burger to be made and miss his train... Deserts you would think that nothing can go wrong here.. To start with we were given wrong menus again. Instead of Xmas set menus the waitress handed us standard menus and left. After she returned we asked for Xmas menus. Finally only two of us ordered a desert we went for the Sticky Toffee with honeycomb Arctic slice. I never had arctic slide before and wanted to know what it looks and tastes like. When two deserts were brought over, they had a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top. The waitress has gone by then and we carried on eating and asking each other where is the artic slice and why we have the scoop of ice cream instead..? All of us commented that the desert did not look and had any reference to Christmas and was just a standard sticky toffee not as described on the menu.. Any way, we all carried on as were keen at this point to pay and live the pub. When we were given a bill, we couldn 't work out how much each of us had to pay as it was not easily stated on the bill and had some items which we did not even had! I questioned 2 deserts on the bill as they were added to the bill at £8.75 each and not as part of the 3 course set meal. Waitress then just took off one of deserts. it is at this point we realised that we were served wrong deserts! We were given a sticky toffee pudding from the standard menu, not Xmas Set menu hence no Arctic slice or honeycomb... It was the same waitress who gave us Xmas menus and took the order.. There was also a wrong double Gin and Tonic added to the bill which none of us had.. The bill should have been easy to read and understand as all bar two of us had a set menu meals but the bill listed starters and deserts as separate items. The waitress couldn 't work out the bill for each of us (i.e. ask who had what individually so that we pay) but told us to work it out ourselves. We did and then paid for what we have had including drinks. When half of the team has left to catch the train, we were heading to leave and was told by the same waitress that there was an outstanding amount of £22 left to pay! This was the cherry on the top for the whole evening and we had to call the manager and complain about the whole evening, including service and the food. I am glad to say that the Manager, although he was not happy to hear our feedback, let us go at that point which was a relief. So, overall, we are definitely NOT coming back to the Pheasant again. Both service and food were below average and unacceptable for the amount of money we paid for our Christmas dinner. Staff should be better trained on how to serve customers and Chef and Kitchen staff on improving their cooking standards and skills. It was very substandard on all fronts. The only good thing was the decoration of the pub, but no Xmas crackers on the table which we thought was a standard feature for Xmas Dinners."
