"I stopped by for a late lunch during a long journey to Newcastle, and I was pleasantly surprised by this charming pub! The welcome was incredibly warm, and the food was excellent, with plenty of options for vegetarians and those with special dietary needs. I had the soup of the day, which was a spiced cauliflower and coconut soup, accompanied by a Hot Hob baked baguette filled with cheese, ham, and onion chutney. My husband opted for his soup with freshly made bread, which was delightful. The kids enjoyed their meals—macaroni cheese, ham, eggs, and chips—and the portions were quite generous. We sat in the bar area, which was perfect for us. The service was fantastic, and we were well taken care of, especially when one of the children had a little issue and a lovely lady came to assist us. Thank you so much, Forge Inn! We will definitely return on our next trip!"

"We went for a Sunday afternoon roast. The service was great and the food was excellent. We had the private room which is lovely if you have a big group. It gives you that home away from home vibe. Food was slightly pricey, but staff were friendly and ensured we had everything we needed. I would highly recommend. Price per person: £40–50 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5"

"If I could give -5* I would. Even 1 star is too high for this place. We went for a family occasion in a party of 20. We had pre ordered the meals to make it easier. Upon arrival. They had missed out my meal. After everyone was served they said it would be 6 minutes if I would still like the Sirloin. I said sure no problem. 20 minutes later I had to go to the bar to get an update and I was told it'll be there in a few minutes. At this point everyone else was finishing their meals. I did not go out to eat on my own so I said I think I'll leave it as I don't really want to sit there eating on my own. I then walked back to the table. They then brought the food over to the table minutes later (while everyone is watching us) and said I'd still have to pay for it as it's now cooked. At this point I was so annoyed and didn't want to cause a scene I said whatever I don't care about the money. They said they can pack it for me to take it away. I then had to pay £28 for a sirloin which was 25 minutes late and cold in a take away box. I could not believe it! Would never go to any of these pubs ever again! Atrocious service from staff and management who lack any customer skills or understanding!"

"I regularly go to Lara’s and usually receive good customer service. However, tonight the service was poor and the staff was awfully rude! Tonight I ordered my food and I clearly stated my sea bass to be with rice due to me being allergic to potatoes I repeated myself three times on the phone and the lady repeated it to me. My daughter in law collected the order and when I opened my food I had chips and my sea bass was overcooked. The Turkish bread was burnt and I hadn’t received my salad or sauce. My son and daughter in law also ordered mixed kebabs and they had 5 pieces of skinny meat and hardly any chips. I called the restaurant to see if they could do anything and the ‘manager’ was very rude telling me ‘’there is nothing she could do about it darling’’. She was very rude and proceed to call me a liar and continued to say I didn’t state what I wanted with my sea bass! I returned the food to the restaurant and the staff was very rude again! The man cooking the food told me his staff wasn’t rude and to lower my voice he chucked my money at me and told me to leave his shop. All I wanted was a apology not to be called a liar I will not be returning due to the poor customer service and quality of the food on my last few visits."

"We ordered take away for 25 people for a family party and it was such a Success! We had lamb rogan Josh, veg balti and three different chicken dishes as well as rice, different nans, samosas and poppadoms. It was delivered bang on time despite me changing the time late on the day, in big containers so it was easy for people to serve themselves. Everyone went back for more it was all delicious and what we received would have fed many more people. I couldn’t fault it and can heartily recommend. Vegetarian options: Lovely veg curries very tasty"
