"Sunday 1 September. Thought we would treat ourselves, but Es Pla burnt down a few years ago (last time we were there King Juan Carlos was there, and he paid for everyone in the restaurant, amazing! first time we went as students in 1976, we had to run out before ordering, realising we couldn 't afford it! , couldn 't get into Es Cranc. Walked along the front and settled on Sancora, and it was very good. Coped well with a party of 8 for lunch, with some wanting simple small plates and others wanting the works . Portions were very generous, salads enormous, John Dory for 2 was 40 Euros (typical main course at Rick steins which we love is c£40 and came with veg, we made the mistake of ordering chips, huge portion turned up, salmon excellent (not very Menorcan but excellent , the mixed fish for 12 Euros saw 5 fish arrive all cooked well, baby squid excellent. Good rapport with the staff, the guy getting the customers in was very chatty as expected, and the rather severe looking waiter was actually lovely when you chatted with him. The John Dory for two was shown to us as was all the fresh fish we were considering (didn 't like the live lobsters being paraded though . Once cooked the fish was expertly filleted and served. Bread, olives, water came complimentary, drinks reasonable. No room for puds We ate at c2pm and shortly after the restaurant was full, including many Spanish taking their late lunch. We were not moved on once we had finished."

well located on the street, the 3 tapas we tried were quite simple, we ate paella of the lord of good drip, but the shrimp left much to wish, seemed frozen. the amount scueta. the service very slow and unattainable except the waitress elena. prices are quite high where they are, taking advantage of the fame of the village.

As passers by glanced at the menu, I felt like saying “don’t bother”. Goodness me. Very slow service. Poorly presented food with no garnish. No bread offered. And it’s not as if it’s cheap. Look, it’s probably easier to say what I liked: lovely table cloth, the waiter was friendly when he appeared. There is nothing like a good seafood restaurant, sadly this is not one. Voir le carte

Very good restaurant, great service. We have ordered lobster soap menu to share and paella for 2. was not only very riky that at the top also the attention of candy worthy of mention. very slope, without getting heavy, and always thinking about the customer more than fat. price of high quality ratio in all senses. also thanks for going out to greet the cook. for us, this place is essential.

The staff at S'Ancora were very helpful in accommodating our family, including two young girls. We had a lovely table, high chair and the waiters were lovely with the children. The menu was extensive and the food very good. Sea bass with black rice, salmon with creamy leek sauce were highlights from the fish menu and the meat dishes were also very good. Given its excellent location on the harbour front and the quality of the food we felt that this was also great value for money.

We’ve always loved S’Ancora, but we were excited to try it this year because it has changed hands and now has the same management/chef as Cuine D’el Pep, a bar/eatery that we have visited many times. It was everything we expected and more. The food is interesting and faultless. I don’t think the menu really sells it to you. It’s a real taste of modern Menorcan food. If you try the set menu you get a bit of all of the starters, followed by a main course and dessert of your choice. Mouth watering! We’ll be back there many times this summer! Voir le carte

We had one lunch here on a day trip to Fornells. It was very busy with lots of familities so we were lucky to get a table. We both had pizzas topped with sobrasada and cuixot ham, egg and Menorcan cheese. They were quite large so we had a job to finish them but were delicious with lots of topping. We noticed that they seemed happy to provide ‘doggy bags’ for the people who couldn’t finish them, especially those with children. There was a lovely atmosphere and the waiters, though busy, were pleasant and attentive. It's in a good spot too, right by the harbour.

This restaurant has everything going for it prime position and smart interior but it hasn’t got management with a clear insight to what is expected. The staff are very relaxed and chatty. I ordered baked sea bass, which came with a tired uninspiring salad and nothing else. The waiter offered to fillet the fish for me and it took him so long that it was cold when he eventually put it on my plate. He clearly was very inexperienced. My husband had hake with a prawn sauce which was fine but unremarkable. This restaurant clearly could do very much better. We should have realised by the lack of clientele and the nearby restaurant being very full that there was probably a very good reason for this!
