"Our view on Saffron is a bit different to most of the reviews. The number of good reviews on Trip Advisor encouraged us to try Saffron. But we found the food bland our dishes tasted quite similar and the Kadhai Paneer was much more salty than is pleasant. We normally find that Indian restaurants make good use of the variety of spices with quite different blends in different dishes whereas Saffron’s dishes are all similar in taste. Their equivalent of Bombay potato came in a curry sauce, which I have never had before as it usually comes without a curry sauce. I appreciate that some people may prefer a relatively bland taste but I think this misses out on the wonderful blends of spices which some restaurants achieve."

We went to Saffron last night to celebrate our youngest son's birthday with our entire family and some friends. The food was delicious and the staff was very friendly. Thank you, Saffron team!

Got chicken bhuna… tasted like someone had just poured a bottle of tomato ketchup in it. Couldn’t even eat it. Sauce was very tangy. Starters of pakora etc not nice either. Won’t be back very disappointed Voir le carte

The best Indian we have tried as part of our retirement travels in the ireland island. Ordered chiken tikka paneer, lamb rogan josh and 5 other dishes with sides of garlic corriander naan. Will definitely be back with the family.

I ordered takeout from this restaurant last year. Unfortunately, they do not accept card payment for delivery, even though I am only a few hundred meters away. It's a shame because the food is amazing. This policy limits how often I can use this establishment. Voir le carte

I don't usually write reviews, but I feel the need to share my experience with Saffron's food. Unfortunately, after having a takeaway from them on Tuesday night, both myself and a family member have been feeling unwell. This has put us off Indian food and we will not be returning to Saffron. It's clear that there was negligence in the food preparation, which is unacceptable.

The restaurant wouldn’t win any awards for its interior but the service was very good and the food tasty but not really true Indian. I did enjoy it but having been to several regions of India I know the food served here was very Europeanished. Lots of sugar added to sweeten the curries up, some of the dishes could have been desserts. They all however could not be faulted for the amount of meat in them. Some time you get lots of sauce with very little substance where as here it was quiet the opposite and it wasn’t cheap meat cuts either. All the meat dishes we had contained big tender, succulent hunks of meat. So although it was the Indian I was expecting it was still very enjoyable.

"Visited lost Found in Portstewart last Friday afternoon for some lunch. Checked the outdoor menu which stated food served until 3.30pm. Went ahead on inside. Started to briefly read the menu at the till as aware from previous visits that you order on arrival yourself at the counter. Was told by the female counter staff that we had 8 minutes to place our order and to take the menus to the table. We did this. Then when we said excuse me to the same member of staff, from our table, that we’d like to order, we were told we had to come back to the till. This made no sense whatsoever. From the moment we stepped in and were told that we had 8 minutes to order should have been the red flag I guess. Friday afternoon, not long till closing, they just didn’t want to be bothered prepping two rounds of food, The two members of staff in the premises had the worst attitude and no ounce of personality to be in the role that they are in. Every thing seemed to be a complete bother. May I also add, the food was very skimp, re portion sizes plus they seem to care more about the presentation than the food itself re the logo branded paper underneath the food. Try attempting to cut sourdough bread on this, not easy unless you want a mouthful of paper. Then when it comes to hot drinks, no sugar or milk provided. Yet again had to approach the till and ask for these to be provided with milk in a paper cup yet another couple had a glass jug of milk on their table (less dishes to wash I guess) and no white sugar at all, had to make do with brown sugar for tea. When asked for refills of hot water we were given a half full glass of this and then when asked for it to be filled up, yet again a whole botheration. Oh and don’t even get me started on the toilet facilities. Dingy to say the least. The premises in portstewart should never have reopened when it did as Lost and Found, previous owner/cafe was far more superior in all ways. Will not be back"
