"I booked this place mostly based on the existing reviews and photos. This was my first visit here and everything from booking to the meal itself was perfect. I'd read some mixed information about it being dog-friendly, so when I booked through Opentable, I enquired and they replied right away confirming it was dog friendly, and they made sure I got booked onto a dog-friendly table at the front. Even though our table was next to the front door, there's a heavy glass passageway that we were pleasantly surprised to learn blocks any breeze from people opening and closing the door. All the staff we had contact with were impeccable, our waitress was lovely and attentive without being overbearing, literally perfect. For starters we had the Lamb Croquettes and Fish Cakes, both were a decent portion, plated beautifully and the lamb was wonderful. For mains I had the beef Wellington and my partner had a special of steak and eggs with chips. The steak was cooked mid-rare as asked, and had a lovely smoky char. My beef wellington contained the most soft, succulent beef I think I've ever had, and again was plated very artistically. The carrot puree was incredibly smooth. Unfortunately, I completely over-faced myself by ordering whilst hungry, and didn't get to finish my truffle and parmesan fries, but they were nice. I had a couple of French martinis and my partner tried a Delamere forest cocktail. We then forced a couple of desserts into us, I had some ice cream and my partner had a sticky toffee. I want to go back as soon as possible to try more menu items, honestly the best food experience I've had in a long time. Please give yourselves a pat on the back for your brilliant hospitality!"

The dining experience was excellent. The staff was very friendly. The Sunday roast was absolutely fantastic. The bun was beautifully made, the potatoes were crispy, the vegetables were soft and flavorful, and the gravy was deliciously hot. It's wonderful that this restaurant is dog-friendly, both indoors and outdoors. You should definitely visit and have a great time!

I have dined at this restaurant approximately 6 times on different occasions and days, and have always been extremely pleased. The food and service are both excellent, and the prices are slightly higher than those of a typical pub. A 10% optional service charge is added to the bill, but I doubt anyone would want it removed. When the quality is this exceptional, I am more than willing to pay.

We were able to utilize the private dining area upstairs for a surprise Baby Shower this afternoon, and it was wonderful! The food, service, team, and overall experience were outstanding. Special thanks to Simon, Lindsey, Liz, and the whole team for taking care of us. Liz especially made sure we had group photos taken and was very attentive. It felt like stepping into a welcoming extended family home with a friendly atmosphere that lasted all afternoon. Thank you Team Riva!

Riva is the best restaurant in Hale. This was my second visit and I was just as impressed as the first time, if not more! Last night (Thursday evening) we enjoyed amazing food and live music from a talented singer. Our group started with a snack board and then ordered beef Wellington, steak pie, fish and chips, and fillet steak - all of which were rated 10/10 by everyone. The service from the owner, a lovely gentleman, was outstanding. If you're looking for high-quality, unique food in Hale, Riva is the place to go!

After reading the reviews for Riva, we decided to book a table and we weren’t disappointed. First of all, the atmosphere was warm and inviting as soon as you entered. The staff, each and every staff member we interacted with were amazing. So friendly, attentive and just made the whole experience amazing. Then the food, what we can only describe as perfection. We had staters, mains and desserts and we couldn’t find fault with any of it. Delicious! We highly recommend and we will definitely be returning. Outstanding all round experience.
