"I was looking online for a pub to eat out in Crouch End that had a menu that was a bit different from the bog standard meal options you usually get in a pub. I stumbled upon their menu then found out it was the chef (Roshan) who used to work at the famous Banners (that closed down last year) and so we had to go and we were not disappointed. Two of us are vegetarians and we had more than just one choice for a nice change. The meat eaters were happy too. The friend plantain and garlic fries were amazing accompaniments too our main dishes. The service was friendly and can’t fault anything in our experience. The bar and restaurant (Rostand Kitchen) are both under one roof but are working as separate entities, meaning you pay separately and you order your own drinks at the bar, We will be back 100% sure of that."

The The

Whilst the staff are friendly and welcoming the food is very mediocre. Save your money there are much better places to eat in the area.

Food was so tasty and for a pub the calamari was amazing! Definitely recommend coming for a visit and try the calamari and chicken wings.

I’ve been visiting this pub for over a decade. I’ve seen it run by different people in that time. I’ve seen it stutter under new management and then recover. It always does. This place is a gem. Friendly staff, a little local crowd, dog friendly and lovely tasty roasts. It’s a good spot for a Sunday lunch or a mid week drink with friends. Recommended.

Called in for a snack lunch on the way to a nearby funeral. Unreconstructed old London Railway Pub near to station and bus stops. Chose just to have a prawn cocktail each and what a prawn cocktail : I can't remember the last time I had such a large and tasty one. Friendly staff, and unusually quite a few locals in at a lunchtime. Felt like a real community pub Voir le carte

I 've been in London last month for a business trip and when I jumped in this pub firstly I thought: omg, i like this friendly and coloured atmosphere . Then I ordered something and the food very good and tasty, the price was so cheap : I appreciated so much the kind, efficient and friendly approach of Sumy, the girl who served me. I would reccommend this place!!

We went on a Sunday evening and had some local beer and roast. The roast was amazing. I had lamb and my son had chicken. This place is a gem! Right outside the local train station and filled with people enjoying community. My wife noticed the everyone was talking to one another and not on their phones. We liked the atmosphere and people so much we went back Tuesday night and were not disappointed. Must try if you out this far!

the railway tavern is exactly the kind of pub they wish as their native. dark decor gives the traditional English pub vibe and eat well expensive. the menu is not something special what the pub food goes, but has enough variation to match most carnivores, although nice could fight for options here. the jerk chickenburger is recommended by me, and they can order some delicious little bar snacks when they get a drink sponge cake and scotch eggs always get a thumb of my kumpels a thing that is something different the railway tavern is the traditional pub game at the entrance, although I say that without any warning what kind of game it is actually. first it looks like a...read more

I’ve been to Railway Tavern with some friends during a trip. We had just finished our Rock 'n Roll Walking Music Tour of London when we decided to enter such a lovely pub looking for good food and a cheap bill. Railway Tavern totally surprised us. Every dish we had was amazing! Even my meat eating boyfriend couldn 't believe how good it was. We were talking about it for days! We ate at some expensive London restaurants during our trip but couldn 't help comparing it to this meal every time. The owner and waitress were so friendly, especially Sumy very accommodating. The decor is simple, so don’t expect anything fancy but if you’re looking for the best traditional food in London, this is the...

"A friend and I stumbled on to this neighbourhood restaurant by chance; no research, no booking, no expectations. We were then blown away by the quality of the food: wonderfully fresh fish, beautifully cooked. The service is also exemplary. I've always enjoyed calamari, but this was by far the best I've ever had: truly succulent and juicy. The mussels were almost as good, and the sea bream kept up the standard. The spiced quince with ice cream made a nice change from baclava in a Turkish restaurant (they still threw in some baclava). The owner, Tony, provides excellent recommendations — make sure you take them! He knows what's fresh that morning, and how his wife cooks it. The bill comes hand-written, and Tony forgot to include the wine (obviously I corrected him). I can't remember the last time a restaurant bill made a mistake in the customers' favour! No service charge is included, and it deserves a lot more than the usual 12.5%. This is a wonderful, old-fashioned restaurant, run by a charming old couple, committed to maintaining old-fashioned standards. The food is more than great and the prices more than reasonable. Service is personal, honest and responsive (providing Tony turns his hearing aid on). Tony warns you if anything you wanted was bought in, rather than home-made. Why don't unassuming but wonderful restaurants like this get Michelin stars?"
