"Encouraged by the TA reviews, and the fact that it was a 2 minute walk from our apartment, we tried the Poniente on our first night in Salamanca. We left disappointed with the quality of the food and aspects of the service. When we first entered the restaurant, we were encouraged by the stylish decor and the professional, welcoming attitude of staff. They tolerated our very poor Spanish as they guided us through the menu. The choices were fairly limited, but we found dishes that we thought would suit our tastes. We were surprised when the bread arrived two perfectly nice rolls placed directly on the table cloth no plates. Never seen it done before. For an entree we shared a plate of croguets. The obviously hand made, irregularly shaped croquets were quite tasty. but nothing perceptibly different from those sold as pintxos in most bars. For mains, I had the Bonito grilled and topped with crushed garlic. I had to send it back to the kitchen. The large, thick piece was seared on both sides, but cold and uncooked through the centre. When it arrived back it was indeed cooked through, but now tough and dry. I struggled to eat some, and between my wife and I we probably consumed less than a third of it. It was neither tasty nor enjoyable to eat. My wife had a leg of lamb for her main. It was well cooked, but a little bland seemed to lack any significant seasoning or spices. Accompanying vegetables consisted a small serving of potato chips and a roasted bell pepper. It was an quite good, but not the something special you expect from a restaurant. The prices were OK, but higher than other Spanish restaurants we have tried In Salamanca and other towns. It was certainly not good value considering the quality. Perhaps we were expecting too much, or maybe we just do not like their style of cooking, but we went away disappointed and struggled with a 3 star rating."

Restaurante de 10, un trato personal en un local muy moderno, probamos varios entrantes y el tomahawk a la brasa, todo espectacular.

tiene una decoración que atrae la atención, muy agradable y es muy cuidadoso el detalle. la atención de los camareros y la velocidad de la cocina de 10. lo único que parecía un poco caro, pero todo era rico.

Starters OK. Mains both fish and steak uncooked, sent back returned little improvement. Only customers at 4pm should have realised this is not popular restaurant, bill being 52 euros for starter and main, waste of money!

con una decoración moderna y hermosa, cuidando el detalle, hemos comido maravillosamente, los camareros muy atentos y amistosos, todo lo que pedimos era delicioso, la carne perfectamente preparada y no tomó nada para traerlo ....

We've been eating the day of kings, the fantastic menu! We started with a foie chocolate with a glass of cava as an appetizer of the house, the rest of the big dishes! and we came to the dessert where we put a slate with a variety of homemade desserts and a delicious roscon! We will respect without a doubt!

Buen lugar para comer algo. el ambiente, moderno y cómodo, el trato muy educado y amistoso. como una ensalada ibérica y una hamburguesa de ternera. la buena ensalada de presentación pero el jamón no estaba templado y los tomates además de la cámara fría eran insípidos. Resumiendo la ensalada faltaba amor. La hamburguesa en su lugar lo encontró delicioso, perfecto yo diría, por mucho tiempo que no tomé una hamburguesa tan deliciosa. postre un delicioso pastel d y queso semicurado. el precio del postre excesivo para lo que es, la crianza del duer mejorable. ¡Hasta pronto, su vecino arañador!

If you inflict too much heat upon some ingredients, you run the risk of drying them out and spoiling the flavour, so generally, I prefer my food to be on the 'only just enough ' when it comes to cooking and eating. This is particularly true for seafood. Unfortunately, the squid we ordered was only just at that point. It was too rare for my friends and just scraped through for me.
