"Peerie Shop Cafe was our first stop after getting off the ferry from Aberdeen. We were a little wary, as we were lugging heavy backpacks with us, but found ourselves welcomed by the staff. We decamped to the upstairs with our bags and enjoyed our first coffee on Shetland. The staff were warm and chatty, and were more than happy for us to settle at a table upstairs while we were waiting to check in at our B&B later on in the day (joking after an hour or so that we didn't need a table number, as we were now regulars . We popped in as many times as we could over the next few days. The Cullen Skink was cracking, the Sassermeat Softies were filling, and the coffee and tea soothing (especially given the chilly weather outside! We absolutely didn't mind our drinks and food being served in recyclable containers, after all, every little helps where the environment is concerned. Well worth a visit. Lovely food, lovely ambience, lovely people."

Excellent service, I was on crutches and they carried my coffee to my vehicle. Always friendly and happy service would highly recommend Judas

Discriminates against people who are lactose intolerant. I was charged an extra 25p for oat milk. Go elsewhere. Better to go to a cafe that is ignorant than to one that is greedy.

Excellent coffee shop. Nice people and good service. It is more of a on the go cafe as there is only a bench to sit on inside but if you are only needing a quick coffee and something to eat then this is the place to go. Voir le carte

I asked for a coffee (around lunchtime) to drink in the cafe, ie not as a take-away. The person making the drink proceeded to make the coffee in a paper cup despite having plenty of china cups in full view. I remonstrated and said, once again, that I did not want a (wasteful) paper cup. That's all we do said the young man. No flexibility. Peerie minded? Will not go there again.

On leaving the ferry we always made our way to the Peerie Cafe for breakfast, not anymore, no tables downstairs, no plates (everything in paper), plastic cutlery, paper cups and less choice. People wandering around aimlessly waiting for drinks and food before ascending stairs with hot drinks and food, risk assessment done? I wonder what trade will be like in winter! From what I understand the changes have not gone down well with the locals.

I wish the owners would do something about the ventilation in this place. It reeks of a mingling of stale food and is quite nauseating. Always very crowded, with not much thought given to maintaining proper spacing out in these Covid times. The soup is invariably cold, and the stench is so overpowering that I don't see how anyone can enjoy their food. But then, some people aren't fussy where and what they eat. Also the staff are quite unfriendly and need to be taught how to be more welcoming. Voir le carte

Located at the back of a charming homewares gift shop, this cafe offers basic seating downstairs and table booths upstairs. The service was average, as only one of the three staff members behind the counter seemed capable of taking orders. It was slightly inconvenient when she had to deliver another customer's order before attending to ours, but understandable. The other two employees appeared to have nothing to do besides chatting. The coffee, served in paper cups for on-site consumption, was not very eco-friendly and not what I was expecting or hoping for.

What a shame Have been to this café many times and it used to be great Now it has completely changed No seats downstairs only small stools with holes in the middle There used to be tables there Asked if we could go upstairs where there is proper tables Given a block with a number on Ordered coffee and cake for myself and son which duly came in carry out cardboard cups and the cakes were in a paper bag even though we were sitting in We were told abruptly to put our rubbish in a large pink bin placed at the top of the stairs when we were finished which we duly did and found it to be over flowing and needing to be emptied The table was filthy covered in bits of cheese from previous occupant and...

"We had a meal last Friday at the steak house in town, and didn’t have a good experience. I left a detailed review on their Facebook page to warn others about it and it appears it’s gone! Can’t see how that’s fair as it was...a fair warning to anyone going. Makes me wonder how many bad reviews have been removed. Would give a lot fairer outlook and how overpriced and unprofessional they are! This wouldn’t be as bad if it hadn’t cost so much, as I’d happily pay for a brilliant meal, but the fact this is a steak house with high prices, you expect a certain standard. In brief, Aimees steak was well over cooked, so told the waiter, who comes back and claims the steak continues to cook after it’s been rested!!! Hillarious that the chef thought that was true, being a steak house they need to be nailing every steak perfect especially at their prices! So anyway, told the waiter that wasn’t the case and I’m well experienced in cooking steak, but he claimed that was still the fact. And instead of discounting our meal for aimees half eaten steak, they offered a free drink! Also the seafood we had with it was over cooked and dry, muscled were terrible, as was the langoustines, and tasteless. Didn’t get any recompense for that. My meal was fine, I had a ribeye and was cooked bang on, maybe ribeyes don’t cook themselves after they’ve been rested And as for charging each for their sides, on top of their expensive meal, bit of a **** take! And one of Aimees gins was advertised contained ginger fever tree and was to cost but they added the mixer on top of the And then on our way out, after I grudgingly paid for the meal (which wouldn’t be that bad if it was a nice dining experience), a member of the kitchen staff looked Aimee up and down in disgust, obviously annoyed at HER for HIM doing a poor job of cooking the food. We will never be back and if they’re deleting reviews, they could be a lot worse as just this experience. Edit: I’d like to point out I put this review on the page to warn others and also allow the business to take some criticism, the customer is always right and all that. Removing the review has just annoyed me, that’s why I’ve made this post."
