"After frequently visiting York, I had been wanting to dine at Oscars. We arrived for lunch and made a reservation for dinner tonight. Since there was a large booking at 7pm, we were asked if we could come in at 6:30pm, which was not a problem for us. At 6:30pm, we were seated at our reserved table and our drinks order was taken. Shortly after, our food order was also taken. However, after waiting for 50 minutes, our food had still not arrived and nobody seemed to acknowledge us. Eventually, we managed to get the attention of a lovely young waitress who apologized and said our food would be ready in 5 minutes. We were then asked to move tables due to a large booking. After waiting for one and a half hours in total, I went to the bar to let the staff know we were leaving and to settle the bill. The drinks bill was waived and we received an apology. I'm not sure what went wrong tonight, but the service was absolutely appalling. The least the staff could have done was to inform us of the delay. I will not be returning."

We made a flying visit, as attending an event in the evening, but with rapid service, wonderfully friendly staff and very tasty food, we really couldn't have asked for more. Will go again when next in York.

Carl our waiter was really friendly and helpful when my friend was asking about vegan options. The full is always delicious and good portion sizes. It’s our go-to place to catch up. Good value for money and Carl is an asset to you :

This restaurant used to be great, but it has recently gone downhill. I started with a pâté appetizer that was swimming in melted butter. For my main course, I had a burger that was average, but it was covered in marble onions instead of relish, which didn't work at all. The staff was very good, but it seems like they need a new chef. Arranged a night out with a large group of friends for a special occasion. We all had a fantastic night from start to finish. The drinks flowed and the food was delicious. Everyone enjoyed what they had ordered. All of the staff were very friendly,...warm and welcoming. Checking we were all ok and if we had everything we needed. Special thanks to Frankie for helping to arrange our special night out and making sure everything was perfect for us all. A credit to Oscar’s and a fabulous lady. Thank you :

Went for a family meal for my birthday on 04.09.22. Not only is this place beautifully decorated, with a relaxing atmosphere. But the staff we so professional and attentive to our every need. Especially our server (sorry, don't know his name) The food was incredible,...the philly steak sandwich was out of this world, the gravy is to die for. They also brought me a chocolate brownie ice cream with a candle in (as a suprise) totally unexpected. Everyone sung happy birthday to me. Absolutely love this place. We will be back.
