"location approx. a min to foot from hamburg hbf. there are road construction/repairs around the restaurant, which makes some nearby roads pedestrian unfriendly. allow extra time when they go there. atmosphere- I felt like I was eating in a German grandmother's house. cute old decorations. service very friendly and professional. the main server was very polite and helpful. she liked to bring us menus in English when she realized that our German was very limited. eating the soup was tasty sniffy hearty, with a delicious bratwurst in it. my friend had the labskaus, which tasted me well, but the combination of hering with choired bark hatch seemed just a little strange for my taste bud, which is not familiar with North German cuisine. I had the goose breast special that was great. overall a great experience"

I was having lunch with my friend. We found in both of our dishes hairy, plus the chips were over fried and the mushrooms full of oil.

You will need to make a reservation and do it if you enjoy straight forward German food. It is not fancy or cutting edge, but simple and well prepared dishes, that serves their purpose.

Beautiful cosy restaurant with really friendly and efficient staff. Food is rustic and superb. Steak with onions and mushrooms is particularly good. Great bee and wine. Well worth a visit if you are looking for a traditional Hamburg experience. Voir le carte

I had the chance to have dinner in this cosy and nice hamburger restaurant during a business trip and I was really satisfied. A taste of Hamburg in a nice context. Good and plentiful food (half duck), tasty side dishes, very good prices. I hope...to be back soon.

an authentic German restaurant with excellent food. starter usually sort the suppe. I was with a party and you have to book. most had carved carving with the fried carrots that were excellent. I had labkaus with a egg, fish and gherkins. hearty delicious food and good price. only sit over very welcoming and English spoken.

eating was okay, not great. we ordered beer that turned out to be mixed with lemon juice. the personal would have warned us. as a starter we took the hamburger bowllaborskaus. that were all-story dog food. I'm sure they used corked meat as a main ingredient. if not, I don't even want to know what it uses. the schinitzel was in order, I shouldsay schnitzels. you have two. Voir le carte

You really get the very best of the Hamburg food at this restaurant. The decor and service is excellent and you feel very at home here. Service is not rushed so enjoy the atmosphere and let the waitresses assist you with what to chose. We...had the most amazing time here and you must book a table to avoid any disappointment. I can highly recommend the roast beef and their fried potatoes are amazing! Enjoy.

was very nice? it was and is always very nice and especially delicious and for the price-conscious who prefer to cuddle, also quite cheap! the weekly changing lunch table! I often wonder how the always friendly wetin comes about the round when I observe how often there are people who are stuck on a water “without” for hours ... but here it surely makes the many guests because the opitz is almost always full loaded, even after the afternoon the restaurant is often already well visited and that must have its reason not to be so nice, because of the very nice thing that will be perfect! very tasty very straight very hungburgish! from me 5 stars with badges!

"There's always a question (in my mind, anyway) as to Michelin's accuracy/usefulness outside of France. In the US, it's not very helpful at all and in Europe ex-France, I've found it hit and miss. Haerlin represented only my second stab at a two-star in Germany and the first meal (Heinz Winkler), while a thoroughly wonderful overall experience, felt like the second star might have been a stretch. Not so at Haerlin, this was a two-star meal that stands fork-to-fork with any I can remember. The food is stylized to within an inch of its life, but close to flawless in both conception and execution. Outside of a large selection of generally unremarkable breads and a luke-warm roasted onion broth added to an amuse at table side that probably should have been hotter, the meal was simply one perfect dish after another. Maybe the sorbet intermezzo was a little old school in such a fashion forward meal, but - hey - it was delicious! Keep it.The room is suitably formal, luxurious in a traditional style, and quite comfortable. The pace of service might be a little leisurely for some (I ate alone and the four-course menu (seven + courses, including amuses, etc) pushed it a bit, stretching just over three hours. However, the friendly and attentive staff kept an eye out the entire time and stopped by if the time between courses presented the opportunity. The somm, in particular, was a great diversion, visiting from time to time to discuss the varied and interesting wines on offer. He provided useful insight into the outstanding selection of trocken Rieslings on the list. He guided me to a 2001 Burklin-Wolf GG that, at Eu 150, was both a great bottle of mature white and a tremendous value for a wine of this quality in this type of restaurant. (Good luck finding a white burgundy of this quality at this price at any multi-star restaurant - or at retail, for that matter.) He also suggested a wonderful German Pinot Noir by the glass that worked perfectly with the meat course and wasn't terribly expensive. The list is extensive, but not the tome you see at some restaurants, but don't be fooled - wine service at Haerlin is both a major plus and represents notable value in the context of multi-star restaurants.I'm not going to argue two-star vs three-star because that distinction often seems to be kind of mysterious (and tangentially related to the food), but I will say that this place certainly deserves two stars. I had just a flat-out great meal. If you can work in a visit, Haerlin should be high on your list."
