Oliver's Coffee House

The atmosphere at this restaurant is pleasant. The baguettes were filling but a bit dry and became hard towards the end. However, the carrot cake was delicious!

visited olivers for a bacon sandwich and coffee between appointments. coffee good sandwich unedable. brot stale bacon tasteless. before was and had cake that was good. therefore will not return for brahfast.

My wife and I went out for lunch this week. She ordered the quiche Lorraine, while I had the baked potato with baked beans. We both had iced tea to drink. For dessert, we split a slice of Guinness cake which was both very generous in size and delicious. The food was all lovely and affordable. The staff was also pleasant and professional. Voir le carte

This really was average. Despite the queue being out the door there was only one person serving, woth no sense of urgency whatsoever. We waited a good ten minutes in the queue. Ordered sandwiches, cakes and drinks. Sandwiches took forever and showed...up without advertised garnish so looked rather boring. No. Offer of sauces or accompaniments. I won't be in a hurry to return.

I was surprised shocked when I visited here yesterday. None of the staff were wearing masks yet everyone coming into the cafe while I was there, did have them on. Who made the decision for the staff, where the rest of the town shops,...appeared to be following the guidance. Given that the staff were all very young, they probably have yet to have had their COVID vaccinations putting them even more at risk.

visited on Saturday afternoon. ordered a ham and cheese to share ciabatta, coffee and hot chocolate, and a few cakes. the personal was nice. that was okay. ciabatta was on average or a little fat. pie selection was decent, but pie underwhelming. coffee was very. nice but hot chocolate was a little disappointing. the seat is different, with a large table and some flat alcove. interesting idea, but slightly impractical. otherwise it is a very pretty business. overall was a bit disappointing in the big reviews! We visited for lunch, ordered quiche with extra sald and really enjoyed our meal. The extra salad was certainly extra' plentiful and a good variety of items. I appreciated that the dressing was served on the side it was a bit too strong...for me but my husband loved it. Service was quick. The only thing that has stopped me from giving stars is that I felt that the walls and some of the exposed pipes etc could have done with a more thorough clean, although I do appreciate that any dust and marks might only have been there for a short while .

The coffee here is fabulous and I have used this coffee house many times however, whilst it’s character needs protecting the place is looking tired and feels like it needs a good clean/titivating. We sat out in the small courtyard- tables and chairs need...a good hose and the plants looked very sorry for. themselves. A real shame to see it looking neglected, also some of the cakes on display looked like yesterday’s leftovers and they looked like they’d been cut with a child’s knife! I felt for the staff all young (all polite) but there didn’t appear to be any senior assistance to guide them. I have given a four star rating for the coffee for the overall experience I would give stars.

We decided to try this restaurant for lunch since the long line of customers waiting outside seemed like a good sign. The seating arrangement was a bit odd, with only long tables that needed to be shared, which isn't ideal for Covid-19 safety measures. However, I can see how it would be nice when it's not as busy. We visited on a Saturday and were disappointed with the food for the price. The toasties and ciabatta were soggy and lacked garnishes. The cutlery and sauce situation was confusing, with some people receiving cutlery while others didn't, so we had to figure it out ourselves. The staff weren't wearing masks, despite signs asking customers to do so, which felt a bit hypocritical. Voir le carte
